My school does not offer Physical Chemistry I in the Spring semester. This is the only class that is keeping me from graduating! Is it possible to take Physical Chemistry II before P Chem I?? I only need to take 1 semester of this class, but am wondering if the second half would count in lieu of the first half? I heard of people taking it out of order.. does anyone know any information about this or have any suggestions. I start my 1 years masters program in the summer, so taking this class in the fall is not an option. I hope I am not screwed. Thanks!

I understand that I need to talk to my advisor, but before I do so I want to see if anyone has heard of this being done.. taking P Chem II before P Chem I.. because they might try to fight me on doing this.. so in that case, I need some ideas to help persuade my advisor.. it's silly because I would think taking either class would fill this requirement, but you know how schools can be.. thanks!

ps. the masters program requires a bachelors

I doubt they would let you take pchem II without taking pchem I since it would be a pre-req for that class. Additionally, your Registrar wouldn't even allow you to be able to sign up for the class. Maybe you can take it during the first summer session?

Also, why don't you just take it this upcoming fall semester?

It has been done before at my school and I can't find any school that offers this class during the first semester of summer school.

I can't take it during the fall because I have not finished calculus by then.. also I have a heavy load consisting of courses only offered in the fall..

I would talk to your advisor then and explain your situation since you don't really have any other options. If it has been done before then they may be able to grant you the opportunity.

I highly doubt you can take P Chem II before P Chem I, those are some seriously hard classes. P Chem is a comprehensive course and you'll be screwed. All the kids in your class will be coming fresh off P Chem I and will leave you in the dust. Think of another way.
