Hello SDN'rs

I am a beginning senior and my science classes are as follows:

Bio I: A
Bio II: A
Chem I: A
Chem II: A
Org I: A
Phys I: A

I have a current gpa of 3.81, but this is my gpa after I transferred to the institute I am in now. After graduating Highschool, I went to a local college in my city and Recieved 2 C's, 3B's and 1 A. The C's were in Bio I: and another in Anatomy/Physi.

These was my first two semesters after high school and I wasn't as focused and serious as I am now. I later moved to a local university in Chicago and from there on, I have been dedicated to school and received all A's and but 3 B's.

1.) So my first question is, Do dental schools look at your improvements over the year? Because I am really concerned about those two C's I received during my early years.

2.) Also, I took Anatomy separate from physiology at my current institution.. So will they average my C from Anatomy/Physiology with my A in Anatomy, and another in Physiology?

3.) My recommend graduation date is May 2011, and I will be taking my DAT 2011 summer.. I will have an ok load this upcoming fall with physics, organic, cell bio,and botany and the same for spring 11', so my question is how or when do you all recommend that I should start studying for my DAT?

I am currently in research, volunteer and work as a dental assistant, have a leadership role in my school pre-dental org. I am in a few extracurricular activities outside of school, and currently volunteering around the community.

4.) Now, How can I strengthen my application when the time comes, and
do you guys think I have a good shot of entering dental school if I nail my DAT?

Sorry for the my life history, I'm pretty sure It could of been quite short..

Thanks for your responses!!

Yes they do.

Start studying when you have time. Depends on your knowledge too. Some people need 3 weeks to prep some need 3 months. It just depends. I myself have not taken the DAT yet, but from being on the forums the best advice someone can give you is to take it when you are ready.

A lot of a people would have a good shot if they "nail" the DAT. Take the DAT then ask.

Also, by reading the forums more, you should get a feel of what you need to do to get into dental school. But everything looks good IMO.

thanks for the suggestion. Ill definitely be looking into that.
