I don't know if anybody is going to be able to give their opinions on this.
I recently took the DAT. My academic average score is 22 (96.2 percentile) with that of PAT being 22 (96.5 percentile). My current gpa is 3.3. Finally, here is the important point: I am an international student. I am aware that medical or dental schools have a tendency of not accepting international students. But, do you guys think I can get admissions to any of the private schools I applied? Thanks guys.

well, your gpa is kind of low...and i think there are plenty of non-int'l students with your stats (well, maybe not PLENTY, but there's enough that you don't really stand out)...

it will really depend on your extracurricular activities and your other experiences i think...if you have a special experience, your chances may be higher...but just looking at your stats, it's hard to say if they'll accept you...

Those are enviable scores among the Americans. You should be proud of that achievement as a foreign candidate. Getting into the private schools will never be a concern for as long as you can fulfill the following key issues:

1) Have all pre-requisites done and 3 years of US college/university studies completed by now
2) Able to show substanstial funds to support all four years of dental program. Get someone (a friend or relative) to co-sign any loan agreement you'll ever need
3) Shadowing from dental clinic
4) A good essay on why you would like to be a dentist. Get your professors/advisors/dentist associates to help proof-read on

i don't think that's true...i think being an int'l student is always a concern...you're competing for VERY limited spaces within an institution...

i had a friend with as good stats, and he didn't get accepted into ANY medical school...and we all know there are MUCH more med schools than dental schools...

Dental schools are different from med schools, where quite a handful of them have rooms for foreign trained dentists (the same shall apply to chungit12's case). chungit12 may need also to take his TOEFL preferably with a score of over 600 (Best if he can take it with TSE -- spoken English). Loma Linda Univ School of Dentistry is one example I can quote you. It's true that he will be limited in his application because he can only turn to private dental schools accepting foreign applications. But ultimately, he'll only need just one school to accept him. Applying early to the right schools is another factor to consider...

Thanks for the input, guys. I did expect to get rather negative replies. I am a rising senior at the University of Notre Dame. I am pretty fluent in english for a foreign student, but I don't think that will bring any change since my status as an international student will remain the same no matter what. Yes, I am aware that my GPA is totally killing me. If you were to put in a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the highest chance of getting accepted to dental schools), what would you give? As some of you mentioned earlier, I submitted applications to all the private schools in the states, but do you think I should put in some applications to canadian dental schools as a back up? I heard that canadian medical or dental schools sucked because they were funded by government or something. Well... Let me know what you guys think. May-be I should pray for some miracle to happen.

I already took the TOEFL a long time when I applied for college as well as the SAT. Speaking of applying early, I submitted the AADSAS electronically like two days ago. They said that it will take 4 to 6 weeks to go over the application and actually get it sent to dental schools. I guess the application is going to open around mid-july. Do you think that's a bit late or just about right?

Uhh...you'll have a harder time getting into a cdn med/dental school and I'm pretty sure they don't suck.

Your TOEFL score is only good for two years. Check with schools you apply to whether you may be waived with that. Tell tham also you have good DAT and RCT scores. You've applied at the right time as many will not do so till Aug due to their lack of confidence in the yet to be sit for DAT. 😍

A serious suggestion: Get a good life partner who's either a US citizen or a permanent resident and you'll get your problem half resolved if and only if you're still a single...
