Here is my situation:

I took the mcat in Augest and scored a 27 (7p/10v/10b). Because of my work load this semester, I decided that I would wait until next cycle to apply, and possibly retake the mcat.

Over the past week I've been reconsidering. After seeing all the late application threads, I'm beginning to think it may still be worth it to apply this cycle. My EC's aren't very strong, and my gpa is just average. I also do not have a letter of recommendation from a DO. These are things I know I can improve on by next year. Assuming I can get in my primary by the end of this week, is it worth it? I might do it anyway...

GPA: 3.44
MCAT:27
EC: Volunteer work, research, tutoring for 3 years, various clubs

you're better off applying earlier in the next cycle.

remember, if you don't get in this cycle, your application has to be stronger when you reapply.

While DO schools are known for lower numbers, they are also known for looking more closely at your EC's and such. If you have average DO stats and little EC's, I would work on the application and apply next cycle. With those numbers, a DO LOR, and some good EC's, I think you have a great shot next cycle. 🙂 Don't give up, but don't apply before you're ready. You don't just want to get in, you want to get in to a school that you like.

You can always apply and see how you do, it might just be a waste of money. If you did get an interview it would be good experience for next year. Get a LOR from a DO and make sure you get your application in early next year. I had similar stats to you and EC's and got into both DO schools that I interviewed at in Oct and Nov of this year. Good luck!

Your GPA/MCAT look fine for some schools. Keep in mind a lot of schools require a DO letter, no exceptions.

I won't offer any advice as to whether or not you should apply this cycle.
