Feel free to correct the pre-med but isn't Toradol comparable to liquid Ibuprofen with the same associated risks?

I think the MDs have to chime in, but it's been established that those risks you mention with NSAIDs include increased risks of stroke, MI, thrombosis and whatever else our fine docs on this board tell us. So, yes, I think you're right and this is a worst case outcome.

Too bad the football team is going about this in such a manner.

'Armstead said the shot made him feel "super human" despite severe ankle, and later shoulder pain, and that without it, he never could have played in big USC games against Notre Dame and UCLA.

"You can't feel any pain, you just feel amazing," the former star player said.'

Um, do these effects sound like something you'd get from ketorolac?

Fakin',

Curious, 30mg of Ketorolac is equivalent to ?mg of Advil? Can you ballpark it?

Just want to know what sort of dose they were giving these players. I imagine it wasn't shots of 500mg of Advil...

Exaggerations duly noted.

I believe the books say 30mg of IV ketorolac gives you pain relief equal to about 6-12 mg of IV morphine - which would be A LOT of advil. One thing to remember too is that football players might be 300 lbs of mostly muscle (water) weight, which means a standard dose might not go as far as it would in a normal size person. I've never used and I don't think anyone ever uses more than 30mg toradol no matter how massive the patient, though.

Edit: having looked this up on the web it looks like 60mg IM toradol is equal to about 800 mg ibuprofen, not as much as I would have thought. Still not sure what the IM to IV conversion of toradol is, though.

same theoretical risks, but more common with ketorolac. we limit its use in a monitored hospital setting to 3 days, and frequently only do it for one day. these guys are likely getting toradol daily during the season, and also probably popping advil or indocin when they get home.

Thank you sir.
