I am searching for a list of Osteopathic medical schools that will allow OOS students to eventually claim residency for in-state tuition. I fell in love with a medical school I have been researching...until I saw the $80,000+/year tuition...ugh. Does such a list exist?
Thank you! 🙂

Michigan is not one of them. At least it wasn't when I checked a few months back.

those things are usually determined in public schools by state statute and not the individual schools..most private (most DO are) schools will have one tuition rate no matter where you are from

Wvsom has several ways to get the in state rate from what I've read.

Ohio lets you after a year and they also have a scholarship that gets you instate tuition for the first year as well. All the schools in Ohio have a significant increase in tuition for 3rd and 4th year though. So keep that in mind.

OU-HCOM also has that contract for all OOSers though.

Can you elaborate on that?

They also have a scholarship for OOSers that excuses them from that. All OOSers are considered for it when applying. I also don't see why it's that big of a deal, OU is well respected in Ohio, and the chances of matching residency in the core or at other hospitals is high. Residency counts in that payback time. It's also worthy to note that physician income is high in Ohio, as a lot of it is underserved, even in the cities.

I second this. OU-HCOM is ridiculously underrated on here. Any OOS applicant should consider it.

Yes it's very underrated here. @NCOldie are you in NC? The school is very picky when it comes to OOS applicants but gives preference to the bordering states as well.

Texas gives you resident tuition if you can become one of the 10% of OOS they let in.
