With the rising cost of tuition, and the possible decrease of post-residency income, would you guys prefer a cheaper, in state DO school or a more expensive out of state or private MD?

I know a lot of people on these boards are very anti-DO (and I dont know why), but I feel this is a choice I may end up dealing with when I apply to med school (if im lucky enough to get any acceptances of course), and just curious as to what you all would do.

Dude, how about actually applying first before posting these kinds of things that always end up in a pissing contest.

Well, seeing as you know that a lot of people are anti-DO, then you know those anti-DO people would not choose a DO school. And that leaves the rest, who would choose depending on multiple factors that are personal to them. I don't understand what these threads pop up for. Do you want someone to influence a decision that is personal to you? This thread is telling me that you would not know how to come to this decision on your own. What would YOU do?

And THANK YOU, illegallysmooth. I could've SWORN that this topic was brought up recently. MAN, I love that search function!!!! 😍

Depends on the DO school. LECOM vs. Colorado OOS? Probably LECOM. Anything Touro vs. any MD school in the country? MD hands down.

Seriously? If you can get into MD then go MD regardless of cost, It is not even a question

Yes, cause we all know osteopathic doctors are pretty much a step above witch doctors and a step below physical therapists. If you wanna be looked down upon your entire life, and spit on by your patients, become a DO. That is, of course, assuming all your colleagues and patients are freshman premeds with size issues.

seems to me it is you DO folk that have the inferiority complex...never said DO's were bad...Just that in my opinion MD is the better option

no not at all...If you have two good options, and you believe one is better then the other, it does not mean the second option is bad

Bad is a relevant term. The way you phrased your first post implies there is such a huge difference in which is more favorable, neglecting all other factors, that DO schools must be "bad."

See what you have done, OP? Already turned into an MD vs DO pissing match...and you haven't even submitted your first app.

OP it goes like this for patient care.

NP>RN>MD>DO

apply accordingly

An inferiority complex? No just tired of people bashing your life choices. Maybe for YOU MD is a better option...for me I CHOSEEEEEEEEE a DO school over a US MD because the DO school is a better school HANDS DOWN.

He doesn't like to believe that as a possibility. This isn't the first thread he's started the MD vs. DO argument in.

I've said it before; go to the cheap school. You can do everything you can do as an MD with a DO degree (except maybe match ACGME plastics, but who are you kidding?), so there is no reason to spend more money than you have to.

Congrats, you want a medal?

You know who else has pretty bad inferiority complexes? Canadians.

whatever, there is no need to start a flame war everytime someone states tehre opionion on DO...What you said in that other thead to the OP was quite rude, you seem rather miserable...I have no intention of continuing this argument with you, please don't respond unless you have something pleasant to say

Take your own advice and stop insulting DOs. By your definition, it is simply my opinion that Canadians have inferiority complexes just lik eit's your opinion that DOs have inferiority complexes. Considering this is the 3rd time you've started this *****ic argument, you need to just keep your mouth shut.

I'm not one of the "DO folk". But nice try hot rod.
