I am visiting somewhere in the Northeast in about a month, and it just so happens that this city houses a school I would be quite interested in attending. I already have an acceptance that I am extremely happy with, but I would like to interview at this particular school as well. If I send them a brief in-the-area e-mail, is it OK to mention this acceptance (and the name of the school)?

Hoping to not get flamed for this as bragging or anything. But it's SDN so who knows. Any useful advice is appreciated as always. Thanks everyone.

It doesn't sound like a good idea (but maybe that's just me).

IMHO I think it's a bad idea. Although not your intention, it adds nothing to your request for an interview but entitlement, as if to say "FYI I got into X, so that should definitely mean I should be competitive for an interview at your school." I know you don't mean to say that which is why you asked on here but that's just my two cents. I think your limited letter space and efforts would be better directed in detailing the specific details why this school is of so much interest to you, and using comparison to your current school as fuel for reasons why it is a better fit for you than even school X.

Seriously, why? To impress the adcoms with how much you're wanted? Or to show that you're interested in the school to the point of gracing
them with your presence even with an extremely attractive acceptance in hand?
I'm not trying to be snarky; I genuinely can't fathom the motivation here.
Whatever the case, don't mention the acceptance. There is just no reason to do so.

Thank you all for the input. I wasn't trying to be snarky about it to said school. I am going to be financially handicapped after this visit and will not be able to attend any more interviews out of state. I was hoping that mentioning an acceptance would help out my cause, but you guys answered my question. I'll leave it out. Thanks again.

but how though? I am so curious as to your reasoning here

There is no need to mention UR acceptance at all. If this program can accomdate UR request, good; if not, nothing can change that.

Dear Quinnipiac,

I will be in Connecticut in December and as I have already been accepted to Yale School of Medicine on October 15th 2015 (which I am extremely happy with and quite interested in attending), I would like also an opportunity to interview at your school.

Respectfully yours,
HybridEarth

@HybridEarth I understand why you thought it might help. Once you have an acceptance, usually people withdraw from the schools they didn't have much interest in attending. I get that if you let them know you have an acceptance, the hope is that it would come off as more sincere that you actually want to attend this particular school and less of a desperate attempt to snag an acceptance somewhere. However, as others have said, I don't think it would come off this way so I agree with other posters that you shouldn't mention it.
