How to mention this in update letter?

Hi all! I am planning to send an update letter to schools I have not heard from in the next few days that includes updates about research (new abstract accepted), new leadership roles, etc.. I was just informed that the PI for my research project is choosing to give me the first author position for the manuscript (same project as abstract), and I will work on writing it in the next couple of months. I was third author for the abstracts, for context. I know that this is not a pub, but it will be eventually and I have no first author pubs in my app atm. This will not be accepted/published until the interview season is over. Should/how can I include this? Just saying that I will be the first author for the manuscript? I don't want this to seem like an empty promise, but it has been a long-term project that resulted in a handful of abstracts/presentations and I want adcoms to know about the update. Thanks!
