How to work? For example, if I submit an account and the application is only added to my application, does adcoms consider it if they happen to review my file between the time I submit and when will I? stay in the area? Or will they receive your request and review your case and make the decision faster because of the urgency / additional financial expense? #confused

I honestly don't think most schools do anything to change the way they review your file if you send them an in the area email. I sent two last cycle, and neither of the schools even acknowledged receiving it and neither of them offered me an interview or rejected me in the following days.

A friend of mine from WI had success with an in the area email to 2 MD schools in Virginia when he was traveling to interview at another in Virginia, so he made the 1 interview into 3 interviews.

At this point in the cycle, I don’t think sending one will hurt you, but most schools are done interviewing so I think you’re likely to come up empty handed. For next cycle, maybe try it if you are from very very far away from the schools.
