In what order/ groupings did you take your classes?

Hey people.. I just wanted to know in what order or sets did you take your pre-reqs and did it work for you? Meaning you got a good grade and it didn't drop your GPA miserably! I'm thinking about taking Organic and Pre-Cal this fall but I'm a little scared at the thought because I'm not the best MATH person...I really have to study it to understand it and I'm great at chem but I've heard that organic was pretty rough. So do you think I should separate the two? In what order did you take your pre-reqs? Please post! Thank You!😀

Think of it this way, Pre-Cal + Organic is a lot better than Organic + Calculus. Ideally, you want to get your chemistry sequence out of the way for PCAT preparation purposes but you also want to have time to study calc as you say that math is difficult for you and since calc is on the PCAT.

I took general chem as my lone science class along with some humanities courses and calculus, then my schedule for the fall is the following:

Physics 1 w/lab
Organic 1 w/lab
Biology 1 w/lab

and a continuation of all three lectures/labs the next semester.

I tried to take them with my humanities for my BS, it rarely worked that way though. I'd list mine, but I've been going since '00 (not including my freshman year in 95-96), you really don't want me listing all those classes.

This is how i did my major courses:

Fall: Bio 1, Chem 1, Pre-Calc
Spring: Bio 2, Chem 2, Calc
Summer: Organic (BEST thing I ever did, Organic if rough)
Fall: Physics 1, Stats
Spring: Physics 2

Plus all the random electives, comp classes, and everything else in there. Taking Organic over the summer was the best thing I ever did. I wouldn't have been able to study for it like I did has I taken it during the year like everyone else.

year 1 fall: chem 1 with lab, anatomy
year 1 spring: chem 2 with lab, physiology, public speaking
year 2 fall: orgo
year 2 spring: orgo2 with lab, physics 1 with lab
this summer: physics 2 with lab

I did ok, but i overloaded myself with the first year.... i overestimated how easy anatomy and physiology would be as I adjusted to my new life in college. taking organic 1 alone was a good idea, and I found physics 1 and orgo 2 immensely easy. physics 2 is kicking my ass, but at this point, i just need to pass it. 🙂 good luck with your scheduling! if you have other questions, feel free to message me

I wasn't ready to apply at the end of my first year - so I applied in the fall of my 3rd year. I really wish I killed my Organic all in the same summer. Instead - I pushed it back so that it would not affect my GPA for interview...

Of course, this assumes the student is ready for calculus upon entering college and that the student will apply during the second year. However, I think the schedule is pretty balanced.

if you are taking low level of math, try to get them out of the way or you will have a long way to go, scatter or spacing out all your hard classes and mix them with easy classes
