To Do Business at a CC and then the prereqs when I can transfer to a 4 year?

Or start a Biology major at CC and then take upper Bio courses at the 4 year?

Gen ed requirements at a CC (e.g. humanities), so you can get started on those pesky non-major requirements for a BA/BS.

Science stuff at a 4 year, so you keep the door open to schools like Tufts that don't accept CC credits.

Not even English credits?
My hope is to get into either UNC or ECU. In-state.

Cool I'm not too far and I'm hoping to transfer to ut Austin after I have enough credits. I too am wondering which classes to take now and which to save for the university. I bombed my first semester of classes last year so I have a lot of making up but it's doable.

Neither. Complete transferable general education requirement at the community college then transfer to a four-year university and finish the dental school prerequisites as a Biology major. Depending on whether you enter as a Junior or Sophomore, you may have to take summer courses and possibly delay matriculation to dental school by a gap year. If you absolutely don't want to miss a year, go ahead and complete a few non-science prerequisites at the CC.

If time is not a big matter for you, I would recommend Plan 1. Tufts tells you they don't like CC credits, but I think other schools also see the CC credits differently EXCEPT you can get great GPA (like ~~3.999:laugh:, of course I don't have) at both CC and 4-year, then you can pick Plan 2.

GOOD LUCK!

👍 This.

You need 2 years to take the prereqs. You could take your prereqs at a CC. Many people have been able to get into dental school with CC credits. However, you disqualify yourself for some schools like PointEstimate said. The disadvantage of taking prereqs at a CC is that you aren't a known quantity; adcoms don't know the level of competition there. If you do take prereqs at a CC, plan on taking many upper division classes at university to show your academic abilities.

that would probably take 6+ YEARS to complete lol.

Are you needing to meet a credit or GPA requirement to transfer to a university? If so then take general classes. Take ones like your English classes, math and so forth. You will need those to get in and your not wasting time and money.
