sup ya'll it's your boy, it's your boyyyyy here to discuss another interesting topic. so i've been continuing my not doing shhh i mean shadowing at a few different dentists and i'm just surprised at how unprofessional everyone is. i mean i think it's good to be casual and personal but i expect SOME kind of professionalism b/w the patient and the provider. i guess when i was pre-med, i hadn't really gotten much shadowing experience in private practices so maybe that's just the difference?
i'm not complaining, i love shadowing these dudes. they are just chillin got that frat bro mentality
i mean we've had so many inappropriate conversations about certain patients, dental assistants, patients' moms, women in general, school, and other dentists. like i wouldn't be surprised if next week, dude would be like, hey pitts what do you say we end early today and hit the strip clubs?
one of my dentists play xbox 360 with me in between patients. there's a good amount of down time between cases and the dental assistants do a lot of work so we'll be squeezing in these games in ncaa fooball 09, i'd be giving him the bidness with my mountaineers (can't stop the pat white X the devine intervention). he doesn't even try to hide it, when the assistants come by they have a clear view of the whole setup. see this is a no no to me cuz you need to earn the respect of ur employees. and he's not even young, i didn't even know people over 40 played video games. dude gets so pumped up about it too acting like Vince Vaughn in Breakup. another dentist told me about his friend who slept with a dental assistant and now he can't fire her even though she sucks.
he's a very competent dentist and have been well established so i guess there's no point for him to present himself in the most professional manner. but shouldn't there be a line drawn somewhere? i think there's such thing as being too personal and too casual. anyway please share your experiences of anything inappropriate you've encountered while shadowing.
ps. something very interesting is developing between a lovely dental assistant and yours truly. will update soon.
