Is this possible? I sent in a complaint to the AAMC after my computer turned off TWICE in the middle of my exam (CARS and BIO). This is what I received back from them:

Is there a way I can incorporate the "detailed letter" I will be receiving from the AAMC into my application? If I wasn't given a weeks notice to retake the exam, I would have. Unfortunately, I don't think it would be a good idea, as I do not have much time to re-prepare for it. Also, I am not waiting ANOTHER cycle. I am already 26 y/o, so that is not an option.

You can include the letter as an attachment to your secondary application

Past chair of AMA board of trustees didnt start medical school until 35
Past president of AOA didnt start medical school until 29
First African American woman to be a dean of an American Medical school didnt start medical school until 30 as a single mom after several years a public school teacher.

Over a 1,000 new students over 30 start MD school each year

Being 26 and saying that isnt an option is ridiculous. Would you rather apply as weaker candidate and not get in or wait a year a be a stronger candidate who does get in?

Thanks. It's not that I would be applying as a weaker candidate, per say. My application is solid and I felt pretty confident leaving the test center that day honestly, but that email made me reconsider.

Agreed, but in his case I think waiting another year would be stupid. He says he has a solid app and felt good about the test itself.

You probably studied pretty well considering that you left the test center feeling good. Do you think you've forgotten that much in one month? I would include the letter if you end up having your exam scored. That said, ADCOMs may not know what to do with it since nobody knows how much better you may have done without the technical issues.

So you elected to have the exam scored? If you performed really poorly, then the letter might help to explain some of that (though nobody would know how well you would actually do since you didn't retake it). If you performed well, then including the letter might make you seem whiny.

Do I think I have forgotten much? Honestly, no. Do I see it as a major risk? Yes. It's just a chance that I don't know if I am willing to take. What if I did well on the August MCAT, but choose to retake it and do worse? Ugh.

I'm not good with making choices!!!! 😛

I hear ya. If it were me, I think I'd want to see my score.

As someone feeling bad for applying next year a little bit before turning 27, thanks for this.

OP did the outage throw you off your game and/or did you lose time for those sections?
