I originally received an Incomplete grade on an undergrad research biology course. But I have since resolved it and received a grade of A*, where the * astericks on my school's transcript indicates a course that previously received a grade of Incomplete.

Entering this into the AMCAS course work section, how would the original Incomplete status affect me? I should enter my grade exactly as it appears on my transcript right (A*) and then check "Incomplete"?

This course only appears once on my transcript (ie. it doesn't say Semester 1 Incomplete and Semester 2 Grade A). Would AMCAS give me an F and then an A, or just an A, when calculating the GPA?

Er, can't you just enter it as an "A" now since the Incomplete has since been changed? I feel like you only need to enter the course once with the "A" grade.

Well on my transcript, it appears exactly as "A*", where the * astericks indicates that this course was previously assigned a grade of Incomplete.

The AMCAS guide asks us to enter grades exactly as they appear on our transcripts right?

There are some exceptions. My school gives us a grade of AH if you take an honors class, but for AMCAS I'm supposed to enter it as A and then just check the honors box.

Here's the thing, AMCAS goes through and verifies your courses against your transcript once you submit your primary to them. They'll change anything if they don't agree with your designation. So, you can either 1) call them to double check, 2) just input the A and they'll change it if they think it should be changed, or 3) input the A with the incomplete and, again, they'll review it for changes. Your call, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I just called AMCAS to double-check and they told me they'll call me back with answer; I'll update the thread with what they said.

UPDATE: AMCAS confirmed that they will use your updated grade (instead of the Incomplete) to calculate GPA.
