hey everyone. i recently had an interview during which the faculty member who was interviewing me was paged two times and also made a short phone call after one of them. my question to everyone is whether or not you view this as inconsiderate, or as a common occurence which we should just attribute to the medical profession of the interviewer?? any of you care to share similar experiences?

while your interview is indeed important, perhaps the page had to deal with a patient issue--in which case, i would side with the interviewer. such is the nature of the work.

common occurence when the interviewer is a clinical physician, don't take it personally.

Happened to me too. The interviewer got two patient-related phone calls. It was no big deal - once the phone rang right after I got a tough question, so I had a good answer ready when they hung up. Saved by the bell!

they call docs all the time for permission to do stuff, it may well have been quite important

on an interview today, my faculty interviewer got a page and answered it because it was clinical. he still made sure to get all the information out of me that he wanted and let me share all the info that i wanted, so i think it was just fine. afterall, the patients come first.

Had it happen to me twice so far. Also, during one of the interviews, the doctor actually left for 3 or 4 minutes to go see a patient and came back, acting as if nothing had happened.
