Hi guys,just came to know that uop is increasing its fee and its going to be much higher.this is all weird,we were told that there wont be any fee increase but they never tell u the truth.so its hard for students like us who are on student visa and have to get thsoe huge amount of loans.plus they dont have any accomodation and we have to find accomodation on our own,so thats a major drawback. thank god that i really made the right choice of choosing icsf. its far better than uop as they really give u all the exposure which one can get in uop,plus the name of the school which is a brand in itself,that always stand.ucsf rocks.

Note that ALL schools in California will be increasing the tuition.. HOwever the international program at UCSF is a self supported program and won't be extrapolating the tuition..

Did UOP already notified the students about the new tuition? What about UCSF? I am still waiting to hear the new tuition from UCLA, apparently they will know in the next 2 weeks... I hope they don't increase it too much

As far as housing I think that even if you pick UOP you won't have a hard time. If you check craigslist you will find a lot of affordable options. UCSF area is cheaper tho. And I think it is fun to live near the golden gate park 🙂

(I used to trust you but NO MORE, good games played here btw ... 1) None of my friends received no update about fee structure from UOP... I just confirmed with few of them .. so I doubt how you received update about UOP fees change 2) UCSF has not declared no updates for any alternate lists today, they probably will release updates next week ..... so one thing is for sure, that you are not accepted to UCSF, the other thing is sure that you were NOT in the ALTERNATE LIST too, otherwise you would not have done this kind of foolishness!!!)

thats true i also came to know about uop's increased fee,not only uop but almost all the private schools are going to increase like usc,nyu etc.ucsf is a self supported instituition,so its increase will not be much and guys we all know private schools always have high fee.not to offend any one but that info is true.thats y we need to keep the financial aspect also in mind coz increase of d fee then rate of interest for few years,so on and so forth.anyways all the best who can afford it.atleast as far as i know whole us is going through recession and i dont know how new grads are going to face that after 2-3 years...

If this person was or was not accepted is none of your business. And in case this person is not it is obvious that he/she is doing this just to defend the preference to UCSF just like you defend UOP

Dear Dentistcool,

I agree with you but I personally went to pacific school two days back for some work and had a prospect of meeting someone (authentic enough to provide me correct information). As this kind of discussion was going on previously on other threads, I already asked this specific question to him and he denied about the ongoing rumors at least with respect to Pacific school. I haven't received any update in fees structure from UOP yet, not by call nor by email.

I just request our other accepted UOP friends whether they heard of any rumors/update like this by email/call after paying deposit fee. If so, then kindly enlighten with the latest updated information on UOP school (If possible - then provide some official links supporting rumor/any statement).

Btw how come you and RohitSehgal have information on increase in UOP fees when none of us (all ACCEPTED PACIFIC Candidates) have NONE??? 🙄

There is always an increase.. But I believe that because the international program is expensive and self supported they won't extrapolate.

From UTHSCSA I heard there would be a 2000 increase. The director mentioned that during the interview.

mission isp,i ahve also noticed that whenever some one says anything negative or not in favour about uop,u almost attack that person's comments and jsut try to ignore his/her thoughts.I feel u might not be some one who is just boosting uop and defaming all other schools.please try not to condemn any one's personal thoughts and yea if some one is sharing any info,u should respect that and yea thats true most of the schools especially the private ones will be increasing their fee and thats normal.nothing to argue in that.if some one tried to mention that point i request u not to nullify that statement and u might not be only one who has sources to get the true info,some one else might also have other sources so try tor espect others thoughts too.sorry if i hurt u by saying anything but i am being honest and straight forward.

1) Why should I defend myself when I have acceptance from pacific, UCSF, and other schools?


2) I was given deadline of 4th December (that's today) to submit $1000 deposit ... however I declined my acceptance and NEVER paid it. So, if 4th DECEMBER ( = today) is the deadline --- then, how can someone get acceptance from UCSF today itself? just to confirm whether that's true or not, I called one of my high-aternate-listed friends too - and he's telling that they probably will hear from UCSF on coming monday.


3) I emailed one of the accepted candidate from UOP, she is gonna join me and she immediately replied me back the following:

"Regarding fees hike- I was told it was for state schools in California because the state is going to declare bankruptcy soon and can't support all this! Did you attend the financial seminar during interview? Best option is to emails those guyz/Warren....or if you are ever in pacific heights you can drop into their office i guess!!! every academic year a 3-5% fees hike occurs. I am gonna talk for confirmation to them Monday"

4) Even I am going to call the administation at UOP and email to Warren for confirmation, can't trust you folks anymore.

5) Sorry to cause you trouble with share of information, if I am annoying to great amount of people here .... then I'm sorry ... because responses on other threads don't agree at all with your statement. I am really hurt by your response. I'm done !!! I can not spoil myself more in an environment like this one.

Dear IloveGolden,
I respect you very much the way you have helped people so far and have no any problem with you. I agree with you this time that every school might have a raise in fees of 3-4% ($2000 - $5000) but that is for every school's international program then and it's not the first time we are hearing such rumors, I called my senior friend at UOP and he just told me that the fee rise of 3-4% goes every year or two in most of the school in US to meet the financial needs . If the rumor is correct with RESPECT to any schools, then we will come to know pretty soon and then we can discuss more things. I just talked and emailed few of my UOP accepted friends, I received few responses and they agreed with me - there's no change in fees or plan of changing fees at UOP yet.

Still I will call UOP on monday or even don't mind personally going there, guys ... please wait for monday to come and all information will be in your hand.

I have been reading posts on SDN recently, since I am new to SDN. I have a very bad impression of SDN as every post is dictating UOP is best, what kinda rubbish is this? Does that mean that students attending other schools, aren't good enough or what is so special about UOP that other schools do not have? Who is this MissionISP character??? which is soOoOo annoying, hurting other SDNers feelings, by praising only UOP.UOP.UOP. Let me tell you UCSF is better or atleast up to bar of UOP. This is interesting...

I do agree with with comment that people are arguing like bunch of kids, come on we are all professionals, so act like one.

This is my opinion, I dont think any ONE perticular dental school is better than other, I believe it is up to a student to get the best out of the education system, all schools are accredated by the ADA or CODA so i dont the point in arguing. I know that each school might have a different patient pool and system, but that does not mean one has a better eduation at UOP vs UCSF vs any other school.

This is not ment to offend anyone, but shead some light on the topic. I think we need to concentrate on the overall well being and intgrety of the profession rather than which school is better.

lets learn to count our blessings. Mission ISP no offence to u but
u must realize that UCSF indirectly helped u to achieve your dream. i m pretty sure that u'd have practiced Class 2 and PFM @ UCSF and it was an IDP of UCSF - patata to be precise who i'm sure WOULD have evaluated them without being prejudicial .
I also saw current IDP batch lending out their stuff to the examinees whom they hardly knew.
School was decent not to question WHY ppl were practicing Class2's and PFM when UCSF technical exam just requires a gold crown prep.
If that opportunity was not presented to us, i'm sure we all would have been lousy during our technical exam ..... right ????
Everybody stop it ya. Its done deal Mission ISP those who had to choose between the two would have chosen their school already. I just hope that they weren't biased based on this thread and regret later one way or the other.
For all those guys waiting to yet hear from any college this thread is going to end up being offensive. I hope this is the last message for this thread.

I think i can partly explain the increase in fee sturctures....The California state passed a legislature to increase fee in all schools of californina by 30 to 40% since they are running deficit and wont be funded by government..U can confirm this info by googling.

This news was on cnn last month...So i assume all the california schools will have tuition fee increase..BUT will they increase International fee ? I am not sure...

I agree with what you said, even I heard the same thing from domestic students of few Cal State Universities. Here, in california, there are many universities regulated by "University of California" (State Government!). Domestic courses of Cal State Universities including dentistry are gonna have rise of 30-40% in the fee structure. NOT is true for private universities (self-supported) programs. So, Pacific, USC, LLU, UCSF(IDP is self-supported) will NOT have drastic changes in the fee structure. However, history tells that private dental schools have increase of 3-5% school fees every year or two. So, expect 3-5% rise in the tution fee for Pacific, USC, LLU and UCSF. (We only can draw the conclusion once we officially receive update from any dental school.)

Wowww....That was pretty intense....well, I just want to drop some words over here about my experience...EVERYBODY HERE IS ALREADY A DENTIST...It really doesn't matter what school you are going to do your international program...after you get your license what matters is : CONTACTS...So just keep this in mind...and you dental school is the one you did in your country...here you will pay to get your license.... All the best for everybody!!!!

Here's what Warren told me- last year the fee+living expenses was in range on 126,000 with tution amounting to 100,000, however these are approximate numbers. The regents would take a final decision on this years fees by January when they will let everyone know.
