Thought we should have one place to keep track of those that are on the Indiana alternate list, as well as their rankings and how they change as more offers are given.

I was placed on the alternate list (out of state) Dec. 1 and I am #4. I spoke with Michelle this morning and she said that I am pretty much 100% in. She said to give it until after the holidays. I am thinking right around Jan 15 when the deposits are due.

Anyone else waitlisted?

Hey thanks for the bump Puglover

I was waitlisted at Indiana U, and am listed as no. 6. I will keep you all updated as to what I hear!!!

GLuck everyone!

I got waitlisted too and I'm #14, what are my chances?

Well Michele Farris told me that there is about a 100% chance that I would be in and supposedly they go through this entire waitlist (20 ppl per Michele) and more. Dr. K's letter said by mid Feb they go through the list. Also, the deadline for first deposits is Jan 4th, pretty early, so I think we can expect some movement after that.

#16 but I'm withdrawing.
17 and up, you can now bump yourselves down a number. 😛

For those of us told that we would be "re evaluated for the waitlist in January"....im wondering what our chances are =/

You still have a pretty good chance. I am out of state and have a spot that will most likely open. I also know of three others what will be opening. There is a lot of movement on there wait list due to the price of the school. Two years go I was told they went through the wait list plus an extra 10.

So I'm one of those people with a spring interview, and they said that we would only be interviewing for an alternate spot, since we're out of state. They still haven't actually scheduled the interviews yet, but how far down on the list do you think that puts me? Is it worth traveling to the interview at all?

I was #5 on the OOS waitlist last year and it only moved one spot. They gave me one of the first interviews this year and i was accepted yesterday, but they were telling me the same thing when I was on the waitlist. I'm not tryin to rain on anyones parade, b/c I def. heard that they move through the waitlist extremely fast, but they said last year was "unique." I hope you all get in and I'll see you next year!!

I was told at my interview that a lot of waitlisted out of state applicants get an acceptance. I cant remember the exact numbers but if you are number 50 and up, I would think you have a pretty good chance of acceptance. I could be wrong though. Good Luck

I was listed as #8 on the alternate and talked with them the afternoon of the 1st and they said I was already up to #6, as of today I'm sure where they are at, hopefully moving quickly!!

Were you placed in that position on Dec 1? Bc I'm pretty sure the last couple years they went through the entire initial list and more. If you look at last years acceptance threads you will see that ppl lower on that list (lower than 5) were accepted.

I was interviewed last year in Feb and I was rejected. So I guess if you don't hear from anyone else then you should definitely go. You just never know.

TERPSBB9 - Oops I was getting a thread mixed up. The one I was reading was actually from 2 years ago. So yea were you #5 as of Dec 1st last year? Thanks!

TERPSBB9 - Looks like you interviewed there in Feb? So then you were probably put on the list in March sometime? That would make sense then that the subsequent list would move much slower.

I have a spot in the class but will be accepting an offer from another school. There is one that will open up. I am out of state.

No worries guys. I am still waiting to hear back from my state school. When I do, I will decline Indy as great of a school as it is. That'll open up another spot for y'all.

Im also turning down my spot at Indiana, so theres another one, Im gonna go with a little bit cheaper school. I just have to quick send in a letter, but I'm guessing there will be movement very soon. Hang in there.

For those declining spots at IU - thanks for thinking of us and making your decisions so fast, you've worked hard and earned your spots and deserve to take all the time you need, but thanks for giving others a chance at acceptance 🙂

Just got an e-mail update from Dr. Kasberg. Dec 1 I was 4 and now I am #1!!! Anybody else hear?

I'm three, but you probably coulda figured that out when you got bumped up🙂 Congrats Pug!!! you are def in!!

I wonder if everyone got bumped up bc people on the waitlist said they are not interested at this point or whether they had to actually ask someone off the list to attend. I would think that it's kind of early for that yet.

My guess would be people are dropping off the waitlist as it gets further and further into the cycle because they accepted somewhere else and asked to be removed from the waitlist. I dont think those people got accepted post dec. 1st from Indiana, although I could be incorrect. They will probably wait until after the Jan. 15 deadline to extend more offers. I think as the cycle goes along, the waitlist continues to shrink little by little but then you may have to compete with post dec. 1st interviewees though. This is all my guess!

I had to decline my acceptance a couple of days ago, so somebody on the waiting list is going to be happy 🙂. Congrats and good luck to everyone. Dr. Kasberg is a class act, he even sent a personal email wishing me good luck in my future endeavors.

bump, is there any point in going to the feb interview? how long is the waitlist now? does anybody get in that interviews in feb?

I think the best idea would be to call the admissions office and ask how many will be on that alternate list and what movement is like typically. But if you look at predents you will see that yes people who have interviewed in Feb do sometimes get in so if it were me I would go. Last year I had a late January interview and was rejected in early March but this time I was waitlisted on 12/1 and got in on 12/30. So if you end up having to reapply next cycle at least you can mention at the next interview that you have interviewed before. Good luck!
