So apparently everyone is asked about their H.S. rank and SAT/ACT score during the Indiana interview. Just wondering what you guys thought about this? Do they have access to your scores? If you had a low SAT score in high school but a high GPA would they correlate that with a low MCAT score being Ok? Haha, I don't know...just trying to understand what they're after. Thoughts? 🙂

Hahahaha....yeah, I'm a little confused about their intentions. What do you think they are looking for here? Can they find out your scores for sure?

Maybe it's just for statistical purposes? I can't imagine it influencing their decision.

i remember they asked me about my SAT score in the interview and high school ranking.

i dont know if its a big deal....
my SATs were a bit low. my mcat was much higher...i remember they asked me "Did you expect to do as well as you did on the mcat?" I told them yes, and explained that my SATs were lower in HS bc i was not as driven, i hadnt chosen a career. Now that i knew my career choice, medicine, i was determined to get in, and i knew studying hard for the mcat would increase my chances of realizing my goals.

they seemed to enjoy my answer.

i was later accepted, with a merit scholarship to boot. 👍

they are probably trying to correlate your HS performance, SAT, MCAT to how well you'll do in med school and how well you'll do on the boards. I am not sure if it's only for "statistical purposes", I mean, they could probably get that data from some other information bank of applicants SATs, class rank, MCAT scores and their performance in med school. I mean, I don't think they have the time and resources to mess around and collect data from applicants that will not be used somehow in their decision process, just for the hell of it, to satisfy their curiosity.

But I mean, who the hell wants to live in Indiana anyway? 😱👎thumbdown👎

Aw, I like Indiana 🙂

Anyway, do you think they already know your scores or have access to them?

I think it's ridiculous that they ask for your SAT scores. It has nothing to do with your GPA or how well you perform on your MCAT. Heck, I had a great SAT score, and high GPA, but not so good MCAT score. And that's 'cos my circumstances were completely different when I wrote the MCAT, than when I wrote the SATs. Anyways, I've an interview at Indiana in Feb., so it's good to know what they ask.

I heard they asked that question, but i was surprised they asked me... I took my SATs over a decade ago, i mean, come on?!?! I can't remember my score! I told them I know I broke a thousand but beyond that I can not remember. So far, no acceptance. I guess they were testing my recollection ability.

I dont remember my high school class rank. I called the school and they said the only way to get it is to go to teh office. I need the rank for the form my school's premed committee uses. However, it seems rediculous that I am going to miss a day of classes to drive across the state and get a rank from 4 years ago. I wasn't first in my class....but I wasn't last either.

They didn't ask me about either my SAT scores or high school GPA...I think they ask about the SAT to get a context for your MCAT score...when I was going over my MCAT score with my pre-med advisor and discussing whether or not to retake it she asked me about my history with the SAT to try and guage how good of a test taker I am. I think its kind of silly though in the context of an admissions interview...
