I just had my interview at Indiana, and I'm worried about couple of things.
First, my interview was only 10 minutes!! From what I saw on the interview feedback page, most of the student's interview were 30 minutes long. So, I'm worried that I didn't speak much or ask enough questions. Also, when I asked the person what should I improve on my resume if I'm not accepted this year, and he said "shadow more dentists," even though I have shadowed an orthodontist for about 7-8 weeks. What do you guys think?

they like to see general dentists more than specialists...all i have to offer.

Do you remember who your interviewers were?

They asked

tell me a little about yourself
how did you become interested in dentistry
what are your favorite classes
what do you do for fun
what is your major
what is the difference between dentistry in Korean and US
why did you move from Emory to Indiana (for undergraduate)
tell me about your dental experiences
what do you want others to know about you that you did not have the chance to say before

I answered all the questions, and it was just over in 10-15 minutes. 😕

6 credits of english needed here

I think the atmosphere in the interview is what is most important, not the length. I think you should be glad it was so short sometimes you are in there for 1/2 hour getting grilled on tons of questions. My interview is on the 7th, how did you like the school, did you do the 2 day interview? I have heard some nice things about Dr. Kasberg, what did you think of him?

I had my interview this week as well and I can say that Dr. Kasberg was truly very, very nice. He actually coached me on exactly what to say and exactly what the panel wanted to hear before my interview. I was pretty shocked...

I didn't meet with Dr. Kasberg before my interview. They just gave me a tour, and after my interview I just went home. Am I missing something here? 😕

Prepare for the rejection letter.

Not necessarily. Dr. Kasberg was participating on interview panels himself today, so he couldn't have been hosting students they way he does when he isn't otherwise occupied.

I hate to tell you this, but you really, really need to work on your English skills. For instance some schools require applicants to write an essay on the spot, i.e. VCU, and your writing skills will kill any chance of you getting accepted. I hope you take this as consructive criticism. By the way this is coming from someone who started learning English at age 16.

you may be surprised, a longer interview isn't always better, i've heard from a few students who were asked, "do you have any questions" after being given a tour of the school and thats it, in dec. they were accepted, other students interviewed at the same school were asked a number of questions and interviewed for a much longer time only to be rejected in dec.

sorry for the grammar, but its late

You spelled constructive wrong...you may want to use spell check before posting.

Last year, IU had a total of 1500ish applications for the entire cycle. As of now in this cycle, they have over 1800! Dr. K said the avg GPA of interviewees so far is 3.6 and avg DAT is 19. Good luck peoples!

i too agree that the length of the interview is not as critical as the atmosphere of it. i think that a 15 minute interview is the avg time. when i look back at all my interviews, i honestly think that it all comes down to wether they liked you or not. i am not totally sure how much your academics play a role.

good luck to you all.
as for IU's inyerview, yes you have heard right. they are very very laid back and you will find this one to be your most comfortable interview of all.

Well, I dont think that shadowing a specialist is worthwile for entrance into dental school. You needed to shadow a general dentist.

Also, dont fool with Indiana.
