Hey there,

I have an interview at IUSD this weekend and was just wondering if anyone was going to be there. Any advice for me? things to see? places to eat?

Any info would greatly be appreciated.

have fun its all downtown. everything is in walking distance

More like hiking distance, but you should be able to find plenty to do. Bring a warm jacket, it is literally freezing here!

Interview is no problem, they do a good job of trying to get you to relax before hand. They'll ask you some hypothetical questions probably, why dentistry, tell us about your research/activities, etc. If your outgoing, you should be able to just lead into one thing from another without the need from them to question you, making it more conversational. Everyone is really friendly and ready to answer questions, too. I really like Indiana, but I'm also fortunate to get in-state tuition.

Hey I just checked my AADSAS page and saw an interview invitation for Indiana😀 Are we supposed to call them to set a date, or will I be getting a letter or email...? How does it work?
Thanks!!

Give them a call, they won't mind. They might actually call or email you if they want to set up your interview relatively soon; that's what happened with mine.

Good luck!

Just checked my AADSAS and it said "Invited for Interview" called them and they said to check our e-mails in the next couple of days? ...Do you guys think this is for FALL interviews? or for SPRING interviews?

I called them and they said that all of the fall interviews are full and the next interview dates available are the middle of spring semester

Hopefully there are spots still left 🙁 Does IU usually fill up their class before Dec. 1st??

I think it depends if you're in state or out of state.
At my interview Dr. Kasberg said that on Nov 30 this year he would be sending out 90 acceptances and about 30 waitlist spots for about 35 out of state seats. He said he was going to interview about 250 out of state applicants. He said in the past getting on the waitlist pretty much means you'll be accepted due to so many kids going to other schools over IU. He never mentioned anything for post- Nov 30 interviews.... I imagine you'll be competing for waitlist spots, but if you really impress them then I'm sure you'll be moved way up on the waitlist. Best of Luck!

When I applied a few of my friends got into the school off the waitlist in april-may and they were about 7 deep. I dont know if this has changed at all being that competition is slighlty increased.

Things to see: there's nothing exciting here...you could go to the speedway I guess

Places to eat: plenty! if you're in the mood for pizza, i recommend basbeaux (located at the corner of new york and delaware street). if you're in the mood for a cheeseburger, i reommend rock bottom (west washington street), alcatraz, or ram...they're all within walking distance. downtown indy also has a lot of ethnic places if you'd like to try something new.

advice: be yourself. my interview was very laid back and it was more like a conversation than an interview. also, bring a good coat...its pretty cold.

good luck!
