Indiana University has much to offer for incoming students. The student body is very strong and plays a large role in the way the school operates. As a recent graduate, I can assure your education upon graduation will exceed that of other dental schools. While there are many pros and cons to all dental programs, IUSD offers more pros. There Pathology department is one of the best in the US and there staff are friendly and easy to talk to. If you are looking at becoming a top notch dentist than IUSD is the program for you.

Triple jump exams are exams you take if you're enrolled in a dental school that has PBL (Problem Based Learning).
You're given a case, and examined by a faculty or an upperclassmen student who usually facilitates the PBL group sessions.
They test on how you make learning issues, hypothesize the problems of the patient's chief complaints, etc.
PBL may work for some people, while it doesn't work for others.
I have friends at USC who don't like the PBL curriculum.
For many dental students, they prefer the traditional "teach me the damn thing" lecture style.
But others simply want to "teach themselves" dentistry because it fits their way of learning.

Btw, isn't PBL a part of curriculum that facilitates active learning process?
As per the IUSD's website, it is named PBL tutorial session. So, I thought it is a kind of weekly discussion session that is done together with traditional lecture.
Or, does it comprise of the whole curriculum? If so, how dental students learn anatomy and other biomedical sciences? (as I don't know)
The reason I am asking this is because I can't find which courses are learned in which year at IUSD.
You'd mentioned USC also provides PBL. However, their website is saying that it's up to u whether u will be registered as traditional or PBL, though.
On the other hand, CASE University provides hybrid version of PBL. I think Case is the place which the way I had described about PBL above is applied to.
Let me know more about how dental students learn within PBL on a weekly basis. (would be really appreciated!)

TJE is only during your 1st yr at IUSD. If you pass it, great, no more torture for the rest of 3 years yay 😀
PBL is like you said, 2x each week, 3hrs per session. The hours go down to 2hrs per session during your 2nd year, then goes away completely during 3rd and 4th year.
You're pretty much right about how PBL plays into the curriculum.. most of the time PBL supplements the lecture materials, but sometimes the PBL cases are a little off and that's when you find out how fast you can wiki thrombocytopenia the night before a session lol. If I have to say... it's about 30% PBL + 70% lecture material, and then on top of that lab stuff.
Personally I don't particularly like the PBL system, but you learn to deal with it. One thing I did learn is speed-searching and how to speak out/explain materials to other folks, cause you know, that's what you'll be (hopefully
) doing to your patients.

TJE is nothing to worry about.. I am a current student at IUSD and i didn't think they were too bad. just like anything else.. do what is expected of you and you will do just fine.. IUSD has alot of good things to offer. the most important which is great patient. being a 4th year dental student, i dont care if I had to jump through hoop to be where i am at, i know when I graduate I am ready to treat patient. IUSD preped me for that..
But, it's two day interview!
The first day, we are supposed to look around the campus. (Campus tour)
The second day, we have an actual interview.
Let me also ask if there is an essay writing.
