I was surprised to hear from Indiana for an interview for two reasons. First I have not submitted my secondary app fee. I also scored a 16 in RC, so I'm really confused. I thought they had a cut off of 18RC. So has anyone else been through this before? I dont want to waste a bunch of money to find out they cannot accept me because of my RC score. Regardless I'm very exited! 🙂

Congratulations on your interview! First, you only submit the secondary fee if you have received an interview invite. Secondly, you are correct that you need an 18 RC to be granted for an interview, so I am also confused. From their website: "A recent ADA ruling limits the number of times you can take the DAT to three. Applicants who score less than 17 on either the academic average or total science or less than 18 on the reading section of the DAT will not be considered for an interview". http://www.iusd.iupui.edu/Depts/SA/FAQprograms.aspx
I would still go to the interview though...I don't know if you want to bring attention that you made a 16 RC (they may have accidentally missed that). Also, i'm sure they will notice that 16 RC at the interview. Maybe there was something else that really impressed them about your application. How were the rest of your DAT sections?

If you get an interview invite, from then it's 50/50. That is the quote and unquote statement made by Dr. Kasberg at Indiana.

I was accepted with a low RC score as well, so you have nothing to worry about. Just make a good impression and you will get an acceptance letter.

17 rc, denied haha... o well, i dont like Indiana anyway!

You would have been surprised, Indianapolis is pretty nice- aside from the Colts.

The fee is due when you schedule your interview...

Well my DAT score is 18AA/ 19TS/ 20PAT. GPA 3.2 Sci/3.51 Overall. So I feel very average if not below. But I do have lots of shadowing and volunteering. I also have a strong upward trend. I am preparing to take the DAT again later this august, so that will definitely help with a higher score.

Question: How long did it take after you submitted your AADSAS application for the adcom to contact you and invite you to an interview? I also applied, and am anxious to hear back from them. Thanks!

My mailing date for AADSAS was 7/17/09. They contacted me yesterday to set up an interview.

I'm stoked to visit IU. When is everyone going? I chose Friday, Oct. 9th as my first choice (convenient because I'm in a wedding Saturday in KY!).

They let you choose interview dates? when was the earliest available date?

The first Monday in October I believe, but I think others were contacted before me so I am not positive.

Mine is Thursday October 8th but thats only cuz friday the 9th was all full already!

Mine is on the 9th, but they can't find my check so I called them and the folks there were very nice. I always get a bit nervous calling the schools.

Yeah Dr. Kasberg and the assistants that answer are really nice. And wow, you already have 4 interviews....i'm jealous.

Sure, just go...you know if you don't go, you're NOT going to get into IU...that's simple. And I know lots of people who got into IU with 17RC incl. me.

Good luck and make a good impression.

I too received an invite! yay

Instate residents had the option of monday sept 21 as the earlist till that thursday.

I think it was insate residents only??? well anyway mine is sept 23rd. booyah

Im kind of confused with IU...they sent an email from me saying that they need the $50 fee, the evaluation letters, and a letter saying when I will complete my prereqs (im missing anatomy)...at the end of the email they said

"Should we not receive the above information [the fee and letters], we will assume you are not interested in the limited possibility of an interview and will withdraw your application from consideration."

does this mean i have a shot at an interview since DrReo said above they only ask for the fee if they give an interview?

Thats really bizarre! It sounded just like my interview email until the last part. Im a bit confused as well, it sounds like your really close to getting an interview but I wouldnt guarantee that.

They scheduled me for Nov 6th which was my third choice. Oh well, I'm exited for the two day interview experience. I was hoping to go earlier to catch the nicer weather in October.

did anyone else get a similar email from Indiana?

I just received an e-mail like that too. I'm missing anatomy too. They want me to send in my application fee and a letter stating when I'm planning on taking anatomy. But, my letter also said that they want to see my fall grades before inviting me for an interview. So, I'm confused - I thought we didn't have to pay the fee until we get an interview?

I'm in a similar situation except I don't have any additional courses requested of me. They sent me an email a while back stating they want to see my fall grades, and as long as I maintain my current GPA, I would be granted an interview.

Interesting. I got a rejection Email from them. It didn't specify why but I am pretty sure it's because of my RC being 16. anyway, congrats on all who are going to interview. Good luck! 👍

Hmm.. Is it a sure thing that you will be invited to interview? From the way my e-mail sounded, it was still an unsure thing whether or not I would get an interview.

Well me and one of the admissions representatives have contacted each other several times, and in one of the emails she explicitly told me that assuming my grades remain consistent, they will be able to offer me an interview at that time, and for me to get my fall transcript in as soon as possible. So I'm pretty confident I will get an interview after the fall semester is over, otherwise it would be pretty upsetting if I did maintain my GPA and was denied an interview. I'll just have to wait until Dec/Jan before I find out. 😳

Good luck! 🙂 I hope that's the same case for me. I wonder how quickly they will process it once we finish our fall semester because by that time, most students have already interviewed.

am scheduled for Nov 6-7 two days interview. Anyone is going to be there?
Any suggestions where to stay?

I will tell you though that I've heard from several sources that the 2 day interview is a waste of time and not very informative.

I am scheduled for Nov. 13-14. Any others in this time frame? PM me if u want. I thought about the 1 day option but they said plan on being on campus for 1.5 hrs. That didnt seem like enough time to take it all in and ask questions.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know why some interviews are one day (and apparently only 1.5 hours) and others are a full 2 days? Just wondering if the 2 day is for out of state applicants or a different level of candidate. Any info would be appreciated!

they offer one day during the week and it is 2 days if you do Friday-Sat.
I have labs during the week and will be driving for interview so it will work out well for me. Plus my brother is in IU business school which is different city but might as well visit, it is short drive. Otherwise I heard that 2 days interview is wasteful if you have to fly in.

Received my interview invite yesterday, sent my material and date request overnight today but received a scary email saying they "overbooked" the interviews and may have to cancel some......i'll be crushed =(

Hey did anyone who received an Indiana interview invite send them their official DAT scores? I just realized they never requested it in their email, but it says it's missing in the supplemental section of AADSAS.

It says the same under supplemental on my AADSAS but I still got an interview, I dont think its accurate, just like everything else on AADSAS!

I got a similar email. I will be granted an interview contingent on taking an anatomy lab and handing in a third academic rec letter. I have one letter from a dentist, two from professors I have taken classes from, and one from a professor I did research with. Is this not enough? I will be calling tomorrow but any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For those of you who were asked to maintain your GPA, I was wondering what is your current sciGPA/cumGPA?

I also got an interview at indiana, and I regrettably chose the Nov 5 instead of 6-7 date, cuz I decided I'm going to the weekend anyway to visit my grandparents.

Anyone else gonna be there that week? 🙂

I am interviewing October 8th (Thursday I think). Anybody going with me?

Did anyone get a status change from AADSAS website but no email or letter from Indiana? On the website the status says "Indiana University (IND) IN 09/10/2009 Invited for Interview ", but I have yet to receive anything from Indiana. How long did it take from the status change on the website to receiving an email? And hearing that they overbooked interview/cancellations is really scary.

I was wondering if anyone knew how long the interview day was supposed to be. I looked at the interview schedule and it just shows the minutes each session is supposed to last. I'm trying to book a flight but wanted to make sure I have enough time to get back to the airport and get on my flight. Thanks in advance!

I'll be interviewing on Wednesday, October 7th! Anyone else on that day? Oh and can anyone who has interviewed this cycle post how the experience went? Thanks!

I interviewed Sept 23rd.

My interview was scheduled at 2:45 i think and asked to arrive at 1:45. I decided to leave so that i would get there an hour and a half early. good thing because traffic made me be there only 30 mins early!

Everything was very relaxed and fun. I wasnt very nervous to begin with but I could tell that the other students there were nervous. They have you wait in a office room while everyone at that time block arrives. They have students lead tours of 2 or 3 interviewers. You will meet with Dr. Kasberg and the head of financial aid. Both informative. Next you will interview: 2 faculty and one d-student versus one interviewer.

I had a blast and didnt think it was stressful at all

Good lucK!

Just finished my interview. The buildings are a bit old, but in my opinion not that bad to deter me from going here. The students/faculty/Dr.Kasberg are AMAZING - super nice and very genuine about the strengths/weaknesses of the school. I will post my feedback after i get some sleep lol. For those booking flights it might be helpful to know that the Indy interview is VERY short - your day is pretty much done in 2.5 hours. 😱......what am i gonna do for the next 24 hours haha

interviewing nov 6-7, flying in from nj.. anyone else interviewing? im thinking of staying at the university's hotel.. anyone looking to share a room?

also any interview feedback greatly appreciated
