Hello all,

I have another random question. I am trying to find some feedback about these two schools. In general, I have heard that both schools have strong general surgery programs. My chairman and ex chairman really like IU but I have heard from others that Cincy is pretty good also. Does anyone have any insight into these programs?

I interviewed at neither of these programs, but the word on the interview trail for both of them last year was very good. On the surface, they have quite a few similarities, in that they are good sized academic programs in good-sized midwestern cities. They both have a good reputation as far as placement of residents in fellowship, and probably draw similar patient populations from similarly sized cachement areas. In general, I heard from other candidates that they were on the whole pleasantly surprised and impressed with both programs and what they had to offer. I think they are programs that are definitely worthy of careful consideration, even if they aren't as flashy or big name as other programs. Check em out, see what you think, especially if you are significantly above average but not super-duper star as a candidate for general surgery.
