Baylor83 said:That's pretty odd, as they would usually give everyone a chance till the wait list unless you have very low stats.
OSUDDS said:Yea I dunno... I'm kinda surprised at such an early rejection. I don't have great stats, but I have a 3.26/3.1 and 19/20/16. I thought theyd wait a little while. Oh well.
zthang said:Yea...i think they have a minimum dat score of 17 on all sections...i can't see any other reason they wouldn't at least wait awhile longer. Especially since your app was in so early. I got an interview with them, and my stats arent really much better.

Just to clarify certain facts that people have been throwing around....
there are 70 IN residents and 30 out of staters. for my cycle, they had about 220 applicants for those 70 spots (very good chances) and over 1600 for those 30 spots. They interviewed only 300 out of staters for those 30 spots.
to get an interview, you needed at least 17's across.
the avg for my class (highest ever to matriculate at IUSD) is 3.4 Sci GPA and 19 DAT.
Unless you hear it from Dr. K, I doubt that they have 1600 application by now. However, they ARE swamped with work. We started orientation on July 5th and when you start, youe will see, that it takes a lot of preperations in advance to be ready for those very busy days. Also, on that very day, the first batch of 2007 applicants came in!!!!!
so they have been very busy with us... in the past couple days upper classmen have started their normal classes and Dental Hygiene and Assistant programs have started their orientations/programs.
on top of all this, IUSD is due for accreditation at the end of August.
They are really busy, but on top of things as well.
best of luck to all of you....

zthang said:300 for 30 spots? Doesn't that seem a little excessive? I thought the odds were usually 3:1 or 2:1
Nope. Getting accepted to a public school from out of state is a pretty long shot, but you can't win if you don't play.zthang said:300 for 30 spots? Doesn't that seem a little excessive? I thought the odds were usually 3:1 or 2:1
