That's pretty odd, as they would usually give everyone a chance till the wait list unless you have very low stats.

Yea I dunno... I'm kinda surprised at such an early rejection. I don't have great stats, but I have a 3.26/3.1 and 19/20/16. I thought theyd wait a little while. Oh well.

Ask them what leads to such early rejection. I am thinking it might be related to your low 16 on PAT?

Yea...i think they have a minimum dat score of 17 on all sections...i can't see any other reason they wouldn't at least wait awhile longer. Especially since your app was in so early. I got an interview with them, and my stats arent really much better.

Seems like your stats are pretty different to me.

I called the office of admissions yesterday, they said they have over 1600 applications that have come in already. Thats a huge number considering that last year they got only about 1600. IU matriculates 80 resident and 20 form out of state. Last year IU only recieved about 200 in state applications, so there were only 20 spots for the rest of the 1200 applicants. They are swamped, thats probally why you got the rejection so soon. Keep on trucking dude. 👍

I received an interview from indiana already as well i thought it was odd i submitted my addsas on june 18th. my stats arent too impressive thats what makes it even more odd.

BCP 3.25
Tsci 3.2
Cum 3.35
Non sci 3.8
AA/TS/PAT
19/20/19

How many interviews do they hand out?

I think most schools give about 2-3 interviews per spot. But I don't know maybe call the office of admissions they seem pretty nice.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

🙁

Good luck with your other dental schools.

I am a first year at IUSD and love it here.

Just to clarify certain facts that people have been throwing around....
there are 70 IN residents and 30 out of staters. for my cycle, they had about 220 applicants for those 70 spots (very good chances) and over 1600 for those 30 spots. They interviewed only 300 out of staters for those 30 spots.
to get an interview, you needed at least 17's across.
the avg for my class (highest ever to matriculate at IUSD) is 3.4 Sci GPA and 19 DAT.

Unless you hear it from Dr. K, I doubt that they have 1600 application by now. However, they ARE swamped with work. We started orientation on July 5th and when you start, youe will see, that it takes a lot of preperations in advance to be ready for those very busy days. Also, on that very day, the first batch of 2007 applicants came in!!!!!
so they have been very busy with us... in the past couple days upper classmen have started their normal classes and Dental Hygiene and Assistant programs have started their orientations/programs.
on top of all this, IUSD is due for accreditation at the end of August.
They are really busy, but on top of things as well.

best of luck to all of you....

~ back to stuydying... cell bio!!!

Hope the best for you Comet! I hope to be in there someday.

I called the offfice of admisions, and although I didn't talk to Dr. Kasberg, the secretary told me that they have over 1600 apps. It blows my mind.

Good news, it will only be 299 as I cannot fulfill the anatomy reqs because my school won't let me! Best of luck to you guys 😀

300 for 30 spots? Doesn't that seem a little excessive? I thought the odds were usually 3:1 or 2:1

Check out some of the stats of state schools. I know for a fact that the OSU website states the school reserves 75%(MINIMUM) of the 104 seats for instate students. Last year only about 250 instate people applied and the other 900 or so applicants were in competition for about 26 seats. Its pretty wild. Not good odds.

Nope. Getting accepted to a public school from out of state is a pretty long shot, but you can't win if you don't play.
