As for me, i'm also really happy that the list has moved.. I was really starting to worry.. 😱 I'm just glad to hear you got accepted.. i hope it means i'm #8 now.. or even closer.. :laugh:

yup, ive joined that facebook group too... although I just had an OHSU interview and I enjoyed my time there. We'll see what happens.
 
've been following this thread too 🙂 Congrats and I'll see you at IUSD next year! Enjoy your summer, cause you'll miss it once school starts lol.

No, I haven't been accepted yet. I emailed Dr. Kasberg and he said they currently have 35 out-of-state students that are still holding their spots. That's their maximum. So hopefully at least three of them will decide to go to other schools. The waiting is killer. This is my third time applying and I really hope it's my last.

Don't worry bro. I'm a current student here at IUSD, and it really sucks to be a student here. There is the PBL curriculum, which is not bad. But the triple jump exams are bad. You have to pass 3 triple jump exams in order to advance. Some of my friends have failed two triple jump exams, and some have failed retakes as well. The SABS (Science Apprach to Biological Science) modules are also ridiculous. The instructors throw questions at you as if you're a dog. We had 6 questions dealing with GI tract in one of our biweekly exam, and I only got 1 question correct. Now this is f--ked up.

Seriously guys, if you're from out-of-state, don't even waste your money coming here. Heck, my girlfriend who applied to dental school and got into IUSD, is not even going to come here. She's going to Pacific's dental school.

To you other prospective students. IUSD has old building. The lab is old, there is NOT enough manikins for all the 100 students in my class. The TV monitors are also old. Unlike the flat screen TVs I saw when I went to other dental schools for interviews.

This dental school is also not diverse. There's only a small handful of minority students, mostly Indians, and Asians. Some of the white students tend to have a chip on their should and think that they're hot sh_t because their father or uncle is an oral surgeon or a general dentist. They also tend to form their own social/drinking party groups as well. There were also times when the lab director or the lady working in the equipment office would give me the runarounds and treat me like a second-class student.

And like I've said, some of the professors (not all of them) tend to abuse the PBL curriculum as an excuse to toss questions and topics at us to learn ourselves, while they do their own research and have more free time. This in turn, makes you do the research, and hence when it comes exam time, you don't know what the correct answer is. Hence you get ****ty scores for your free-response questions if you write down the wrong researched answer.
 
Dang those triple jump exams don't sound too fun, neither does PBL

I just gave up my seat and DEPOSIT!!! oh well.

This is what they sent me last year when I applied,

"Applicants who score less than 18 on reading comprehension or who score less than 16 on any other section of the DAT are ineligible for an interview until they meet or exceed those minimum standards".

They put me on hold until I retook the DAT. Once my new scores were in, I was invited for an interview!

aw man, this is sad (look at my predents profile). with only a 17, im so scared! the rest of my app looks okay. should i re-write the american dat? the first two were canadian. (i got 18 on the first canadian dat, but i think indiana sees the latest scores) =(
 
Hey everyone...If anyone else is still on the waitlist I am too. I think I am number 10 now and i was in the 30s. When I talked to admissions they said it is moving extra fast this year and the admin is getting nervous. She said she might as well just send me apartment information becuase I ill probably get in (out of state btw).


O and about what they look for...I would have to say General science DAT scores more than ANYTHING. I had a 3.8 science, 3.95 regular, biology BS-psych,chem, social sciences minors, IU bloomington, a lot of dental experience, a strong interview, and avg-slightly below DATS avg. HOWEVER I bombed gen chem and got a 15 and didnt do great on gen bio either...I didnt study very much to my own detrement, but I got a 28 on reading and got waitlisted pretty far down.

Loved the campus hopefully some of you guys out there have some encouraging words for me.
