I am going to retake the DAT either end of December or January, I haven't scheduled it yet. However, I applied this cycle, but indicated I am not retaking because it is so late in the cycle, and I am retaking in preparation for applying next cycle. So do I need to indicate I am retaking in the winter or can I just leave it as is because I don't want my application on hold until then since it is so late.

It's best to ask AADSAS what to do. If your application is already complete with your current DAT scores, then you're ready to send it out to the dental schools. In previous years, if you indicated a future DAT date the dental schools would not review your application until all the scores are in, and December is pretty late. So you'll want to contact AADSAS to make sure the schools review your current application now and you can retake the DAT for next year if needed.
