I wanna go into either cardiology or infectious disease, and would like to know which programs are strong in both of these, i know a few that are good at one, or the other, but not both
thanks

ID is not a competitive fellowship, but Cards is - so must go to a good medicine program. Doesn't matter so much what you do as a resident, but must get the fellowship. For ID, the best programs as a resident are different than the best programs as a fellow. As a resident, you want to be at a place with lots of pathology (USC/LA County, Tulane, etc.). As a fellow, you want to be at a place with a good training program (UCSF, Emory, Mass General). Keep in mind - ID docs tend to be smart at every institution, so if you ask if the ID department is good there, nearly every program will tell you yes. You have to ask ID people to find out which are the best ID programs. UAB is one program which comes to mind which has nationally known Cards and ID programs (aside from the obvious, MGH, Hopkins, etc).
