Hey,
Some of the "How to get into residency" type books & websites that I've read suggest that students get direct information and application material from the individual residency programs themselves. Like, going to FRIEDA and printing out address labels and sending postcards asking for more specific info. Is this beneficial? Do I really need to do this? I mean, I've visited their websites already and seem to get who they are. And isn't almost everyone participating in ERAS, in terms of the application process? So should I spend the time mailing off postcards?

No postcards needed. Definately go to the websites. Use email for general (intelligent) questions that you might have, ie not how many days will I have off a month, more like how many x cases can I expect as a resident.

Most places will send you some info in the mail when you apply there or setup an interview.
