From the gen res, are any of you interns to be freaking out about having infopenia? Getting fired? Told you have infopenia, or worse yet, FAILING THE PRITE? 😱 :scared:

I know right? :laugh: I'm reviewing Azotemia so I can discuss it at rounds 🙂
 
I am reading Kaplan and Saddock pocket clinical psych over and over again.... :scared:
I hope if I know it very well, I won't get fired or laugh at :laugh:
I'm also reviewing cardio as I suck at it.
I suffer from infopenia too.
Only 2 months of rereading before I start! 😱

You're supposed to fail the PRITE intern year, that way you can show how much you've learned when your score jumps as a PGY2.

DS, you're not serious right? We get fired if we fail it don't we? :scared: :scared:
 
You can't technically "fail" the PRITE. You can, however, create a world of pain and embarassment if you score below the national average or below your PGY year class. They look for improvement on the PRITE, not stellar scores the first time out.

That's why DS said to aim low on the first PRITE. That way you have no room but to improve the next year. Good PRITE scores = better chance of chief residency. Yay!

Shouldn't half of all psych residents be at or below the national average? Are they all in a world of pain and embarassment? :scared:

Do you mean getting the lowest grade in the class? I would think this is not such a big deal in a small class. In a class of 5, 20% will get the lowest score.
 
Well, they break the PRITE scores down to overall score compared to national, and by class within your program, and by PGY year.

So, you have a good chance of scoring below the national average compared to your PGY class overall. Yes, that leaves a lot of people technically 'below average.' It's best to try and avoid this...

The best reason to do well on PRITE is because (even though they say they aren't trying to be this way, "officially") the questions are REALLY similar to what you will encounter on Part I of your psych boards.

Are there any samples of PRITE questions on internet? Just curious about how tough it is.... 🙂

I just mean mathematically speaking. If you look at a bell curve, half of test takers are at or below the average.
