hey guys,
i need some advice. I have decided to take additional classes through UC extension as informal post-bacc to increase my gpa. I have 2.9 gpa as undergraduate. Here is the question. I have C in metabolic, structural and molecular biology. Should i retake those classes and receive a better grade probably A or B or should i just take cell and molecular biology and introduction to biochemistry (both from UCSD extension classes) and other upp-div biology classes(in UCSD campus)?

Also, i am thinking about taking applied immunology and introduction to biochemistry (both from UCSD extension classes) or probably one more upp-di biology class. How do you guys think?

please give me some advice. I am planning to apply on next june 1st. I need to get all my classes done before that.

thanks. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

IMO unless you are URM, 2.9 is a bit low and informal postbac is needed. I would suggest to not retake the course, and if you personally decide to retake, you should definitely get an A or A+. Cell and molecular bio sounds good, but introduction to biochemistry sounds a bit short. With 2.9 you probably want to demonstrate you can handle rigor of dental school by taking at least 4 upper div bio and get +3.7gpa ( at least A- average). You should take this winter+spring and keep up with fall quarter. You need to prove at least 1 year of academic work. To be more specific you should call the schools that you want to attend.
Best luck.

👍 In order to have any school at d-school that GPA needs to be boosted to at least a 3.4 and above. (same for the science GPA)
After you either retake the class or take new classes to boost it up, focus on killing the DAT and then you should be fine.
