hi guys,
i cumulative gpa is 3.3 and science is 2.96. I am currently doing informal post-bac on my own and i am planning to apply on june 1. I haven't take DAT yet and i will be around fed or march. I have calculated that if i can get A for the next two quarter and my science gpa will be around 3.09. I have taken a lot of biology for undergrad so it is hard for me to boost it up. However, i have decided to take around 30 semester credit this year before june 1st and work my ass of for straight As. The, i will have a hugh upward trend. How do you guys think of my chance if i have a decent dat.

Thansk

a "decent" dat may not help a low science score like that.

why not do a MS instead of a post bacc, and at least have something worth a damn incase DDS doesnt work out.

If you get make good grades between now and the time that you plan to apply, and do well on your DAT (AA 20+, although I'd probably say is 21+) then you should be able to get in to dental school somewhere.

These are my stats and I been accepted to 2 dental schools thus far, though I only applied to the 3 in Texas.

DAT: AA/ TS/ PAT - 21/23/20

Undergrad GPA: 3.34
Undergrad Science GPA: 2.99
Undergrad Non-Science GPA: 3.59

Your overall GPA is fine but your sGPA is very low. You'll need to bust your butt hard to get it up to a respectable level i.e. 3.5 at least. If you get that and get a 19 or more on the DAT I can see you gaining an acceptance somewhere.

I did an informal post bacc and received multiple acceptances but I had a much higher sGPA around a 3.6 and a monster BCP GPA of 3.7.

are you talking about post-bac sGPA or informal post-bac + undergrad? It would be hard for me since i have so many undergrad credits. The only thing i can do is to maintain a really high gpa throughout a year informal post-bac and hope they can see my improvement and upward trend.

dental schools look at total GPA and total sGPA. that means they take all your classes and calculate their quality points against the total amount of credits. Its not hard to move your undergrad credits because I am a non-trad had 150 credits before I started taking the science prereqs and I was able to move up my oGPA and sGPA quite easily because I just kept getting As.
