I'm planning on doing an informal post bacc and taking a few classes at a local state school. Is it better to retake a class that I got a C- in or take new classes and try to raise my gpa that way?

I got mostly Bs and Cs on my lower level sciences, but started to get my act together and started getting As and Bs for the upper division courses. So is it better to retake the basics, or continue doing upper division work and scoring well?

Well if you go the DO route retaking classes you got C's in will significantly raise your GPA, but if your make A's and B's in upper level bio courses I say screw the classes you got C's in. It all depends, if you want to go to US Allopathic school, keep up the good work in the upper level classes 👍 but if you wanna go DO retake the classes!

So if I want to apply allopathic then

Retaking would average my scores so:
4 unit class x 2.0 for C and 4 x 4.0 for retaking and getting A would show as 4 units x 3.0 for average of B?
or would it be like 8 units x 3.0?

since my gpa is 2.9ish, I think initially the second scenario helps more, but if I increase my gpa past 3.0 I think the first scenario is actually more beneficial.

maybe my reasoning is wrong and they're both actually the same. hope this makes sense.

it would count as 8 units x 3. it would be good to retake the science classes that you got C- or less to prove that you can and have mastered the material. you should also consider an smp if you want to go to a US allopathic school.
