Hello everyone,

I am applying to informal post-docs and have a few interviews lined up. Do informal post-doc sites give job offers on the spot (to the right candidate) or is the process similar to the formal post-doc? For those of you who went through the informal post-doc, how soon after you interviewed did you find out if you got an offer or rejection?

Thanks!

"Informal post-doc" can mean variety of things. I suppose my post was informal, because I took a faculty position in a small psychology department and received additional (supervised) clinical hours trough their student counseling center. This was a job with some clinical work on the side, so not a typical training program post-doc. I doubt there is much consistency, and some could offer on spot, while most would interview and make decision later and call or email

PsychologyToday1984, will you accept an offer on the spot or will you ask them for time to make your decision?

I can see myself indicating strong interest if I loved the site, but still being professionally coy by asking for 24-hours (definitely internalized my business-minded husband's stance of taking 24-hr to make any big decisions).

Good luck! :luck:
