so I was looking through my UAB curriculum and saw these couple of courses titled "Injections and Minor surgical procedure". What injections and what surgical procedures are they referring to? Are there any minor procedures you do at your clinic that require you to physically get into the patient's eye?

not sure exactly when you would use them in clinic.. but i'm sure you may have to for something.

SCO does the same.. and all the students become certified to give IV, IM, and Sub-Q injections.

About half the schools teach some form of injections on patients and Oklahoma allows laser surgery on patients. I will also learn these procedures but not on patients directly. I can go do a residency or take a course in another state to learn them on patients.

Here's some flame-bait for the ophtho's: http://www.ardmoreite.com/features/x1293126637/Local-doc-restores-man-s-vision

No just funny to me that this made "news". PTK\PRK is not a novel concept, in my brief literature search, it was first noted in 1996! in our literature.

My only honest worry with this story is since a K specialist probably told this guy he needed a PK was because the scar tissue was deep into the cornea. So how much cornea did they take off, is his CMT like 150 now? I couldn't access the article unfortuantely to find out.

Could you be any more envious of this optometrist saving this patient's vision? Had it been one of your own ilk I'm guessing you wouldn't have questioned his technique and approach so much? Sheesh....

MR1 fell right into my trap. I even explicitly stated it was "flamebait" yet s/he couldn't suppress their ego :p

Hi all,
Can anybody explain in detail about the optometry injections, and small surgical procedures. My uncle has been lacking in vision, and his age is seventy around. When he went to Eye care hospital, they suggested him that he should undergo laser operation or surgery. Can you help out in knowing what is meant by LASER SURGERY?

With all of your recent screen name changes and your claims to have figured out everything there is to know about optometric economics and practice, shouldn't you know this by now?

When you use the same "1-2-3" end-tag on half of your fake screen names, it kind of gives you away. You might try sticking with fake ones that are a little more discreet, such as your famous geneticist. Just a thought.

Even if you aren't the resident troll reincarnated this question is against the terms of service of these forums.
