Hi all,

I heard from a doctor that INO can be classified into 3 types, but I cannot find which three after browsing through the web/ books. Do anyone know which 3 are they?

Thx a lot.🙂

This is some relatively obscure neuroanatomy, but that is what we like.

1. There is WEBINO, wall-eyed (bilateral exodeviation) with a bilateral INO, so called anterior INO with paralysis of bilateral medial recti.
2. Posterior Internuclear Ophthalmoplegia, classic variety
3. Reverse posterior INO, on attempted lateral gaze the ABducting eye fails to abduct but the ADducting eye achieves full range. It looks like a bilateral sixth but complete ABduction is seen when individually testing each eye (allegedly).

Patten, Neurological Differential Diagnosis page 98, has a diagram of all the different lesion localizations.
