Hello I was wondering about a path towards an applied science degree; preferably a respiratory therapist. I wanted to know about the field maybe a few upsides and downsides; also a comparison to a physicians (upside and downside). I am currently enrolled at Community College of Philadelphia following the cultural science and technology associate degree path (with a health concentration). I had all the core classes; Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2, 2 college level chemistry classes, 2 college level math classes. All these classes I had received at least a B letter grade. One of the college chemistry class I retook 3 times smh but pulled out with a B. I have to retake Microbiology because I got a D letter grade spring 2016 semester. So here I am Fall 2016 at CCP taking only college chemistry part 2. After next semester I will finally obtain my associates in Cultural Science and Tech. I actually work at a rehabilitation hospital and I talk to Physicians all the time & they always have encouraging words for me. I wanted to run it by this thread to see recommendations, advice and my chances on this potential path and if I want to pursue medical school.

P.S. I have intentions on working as a respiratory therapist; I am not using this path as a stepping stone necessarily to get into medical school but I am very interested and passionate about the health field and might want to pursue medical school.

Maybe post in the respiratory board. I am unsure if people on this board would have any experience with it.
