I know it's hard to quantify, but for those with insider information, what's your gut feeling—how much weight does the CBSE score carry in a program’s decision to accept an applicant? 40%? 80%? 95%?

Tough call. You could have a great test score but if you’re extremely annoying then you’re done.

Depends on the program, current program director, current chairman, current chiefs. It's a good equalizer across the board though, so it's an objective metric to compare you with literally everyone else.

Getting an interview and getting ranked well are 2 different things.

A good CBSE score will land you interviews. A poor CBSE score will probably kill it for you even with other stellar stats.

Once in the interview, at least at my program, the CBSE’s weight is probably similar to how the person interviews.

Get an excellent CBSE score to get interviews. Interview extremely we to match.

In my experience interviewing for the past 4 years, applicants are often not good interviewees. Those that are really stand out.
