just kidding.

now the question your asking yourself - is he kidding meaning he didn't inhale and in fact does smoke a buttload of cheeba, or is he kidding meaning he doesn't smoke pot?

If he doesn't smoke a buttload of cheeba, he has friends that does, otherwise he wouldn't know the terminology, thereby placing himself in the past as being a smoker of buttloads of cheeba. How are my deduction skills?

I think that guy is a total idiot, with the exception of his bow-tie wearing. I hope he succeeds in bring about a major bow tie trend.

That's true about the finances - I posted something similar earlier in this thread. I know a lot about ole Bill. Went to his alma matter, was his son's RA, and have been to the ole boy's house (which is ridonculous, btw).

And no, I don't think he has a chance. I'd love to see him as prez, but he lacks charisma. We all saw what happens to a candidate without charisma. cough al gore cough.

Man I bet his house is amazing. Really, I think he has a good shot. His new stance on stem cell research is a good one, especially for the medical world. This might hurt him during the primaries when the christian groups go at him. The majority of Americans are for stem cell research. I see him winning the republican moderates, and taking enough of the conservative vote to take the nomination. I guess, we shall see.

ok, wise guy, so I don't get my news from FOX ot MSNBC or CNN or whatever network your buddy's show is on. I'm sorry. Like I said, I'm confused, and I didn't expect you to select an avatar of a talk-show host. I'm naive, but so are you to think that I would know who that bow tie is wearing.

yeah its a long time away, but i imagine it would be pretty badas$ for docs. he should be smart enough to convince ppl stem cells are ok. even if the majority of americans are for stem cells, the question is whether the majority of his voter base is for it.

FRIST/?(delay, hes from my hometown!) vs clinton/obama?

Nah, your average American needs someone that speaks to them in some sort of down to earth language. Frist is too stiff for that. If Rudy runs, he has a chance. So does Mitt Romney (great speaker, I saw him in person and was amazed). Otherwise, it'll be a darkrhorse governer. I really don't think ole Billy boy has a chance, sadly. I was a pol major in college, so I've spent a lotta time researching this crap. But of course it's just an educated guess, so I could (and hopefully will) be wrong, but I doubt it.

Plus he officially told me as recently as Superbowl weekend that he wasn't running. Which is of course complete and total bull.

I was just messing around with you. Many people assume it is me. It also however sums up my demographic. Clean-cut white conservative.

The Republicans will undoubtably back someone who is pitchable to the Christian base. It is a shame that the party has become captive to that voter base. I wish the third parties could actually get into the hunt.

true, the gop is relying heavily on the christianity pitch of late. that would be interesting to see bipartisanism break down, but alas ross perot showed that the electoral college makes that tricky

edit: but you know, america did come into existence because of christianity issues, so maybe its only fitting.

That's why I really feel like it might be Romney. His conservative credentials are not questionable. Frist unfortunately made an ass of himself with Schiavo, too.

You're right, though, the Christian right is ruining the GOP. I wouldn't be surprised to see a party schism over the next 10-15 years...

He'll never have a chance. After GWB nobody will win the GOP primaries unless the Christian right feels that they're a "true believer". Frist clearly isn't one of them and his attempts at ingratiating himself with them were pretty pathetic. Which is a shame because I think he'd be pretty good.

It'll probably be some good ol' boy Southern hardcore conservative hellraiser the evangelicals are comfortable with like Allen. I'd vote Dem then, unless they manage to nominate Hillary, in which case given that choice I will move to Uzbekistan.

more instability=more accessible for us to take over and run as we see fit. although we will be vulnerable to beheading at the hands of the next coup d etat.

It is total bull, everyone knows he is running. LOL. Shredder, Obama will not be the VP candidate. He is gonna wait another term. He is not going to make the same mistake Edwards made. I have to admit I knew bush would take down Kerry, regardless of his performance during the debates. I am worried about Hillary Clinton, she seems like a tough opponent to go up against. Plus, she will have slick Willy's political crew running things.

Yeah you're right about Obama, he will bide his time and rise to some prominence in the Senate first. If he is smart.

And your fears about Hillary are shared by me, as well. But is America really ready for a woman president? I doubt it. We need a female veep first.

Everyone will hype up Hilary but one thing that we have going for us that the Dems don't is our support base will get out and vote. The Dem party is filled with apathetic voters. I put in my time walking 24 hours before super tuesday door to door.

ok crazies, I've enjoyed rapping with you, but I have to remove this thread from my subscription. The thought of crying after the GOP wins another election is making me sick. It is already happening in other parts of the country. In Kansas, the moderate republicans, were getting sick and tired of the die hard conservative pro-lifer's, they supported and went on the campaign trail for Democrat Kathleen Sebelius. She is now the governor of Kansas.

i think i too am going to head to bed. or at least see if on demand has updated with tonight's (monday) episode of entourage, which i missed earlier this evening. goodnight folks. sleep tight and keep dreaming of those dollar signs 😛 (sorry, had to take one last jab for old times sake)

i agree, usa is losing power relative to the rest of the world today, namely china and india. was it inevitable? we keep getting mad at china for currency issues, not sure what the details are. foreign investors are buying up tons of US property and companies.

The Chinese are doing something which is illegal. They tie their production/exports to the US dollar and run their economy around the US economy. Anyone with any knowledge of economics knows this is illegal.

And yes ladies, I am a big caveman who clubs women over the head and takes them to his cave. RUN AWAY!!

Shredder, do not worry about socialized health care. It will never happen in our lifetime. The AMA will not let it happen.

every country's health care system has flaws. no system is perfect. the solution isnt changing systems but to improve the one you have. im not advocating that the US change to a universal health care system, but I dont appreciate the bashing of the Canadian health care system or other different forms of systems. As a user of 22 years in the system, its done me and my fellow canadians quite well. there are problems of course...long waits for knee/hip replacement surguries for example, but the provincial governments are working to alleviate that. the US has problems too.....44 million people uninsured is something that needs to be tended to.

our funding is public, ie from the canadian government, but the hospitals are all in private systems or health regions. the money is allocated to the regions to be distributed. doctors still make a lot of money, as doctors everywhere make money.

Wow, I haven't posted whole day today cuz I've been volunteering, but this thread went from being like 12 pages, to 21 pages in the course of a day. That's craziness there.

Shredder's got a hot topic going.

Ok enough of me being silly, I'll get back to you with my response to the job security thing later, cuz I'm going to have to catch up reading from page 14 to the latest when I get more time.

 nah, thats bc me and some other ppl used it as our real time conversation grounds, and you know how fast threads can grow then that happens, especially when things get heated

'stang i agree that honey thing was strange, makes me feel kinda queasy :scared:

if socialized healthcare happens then everything this country stands for will go up in smoke. concerning the uninsured and ppl who cant afford healthcare--who cares (not really but yes if it means providing them with services at others' expense like those who are willing to pay a la megboo).

If you're referring to the failed Clinton healthcare initiative, it was actually an expansion (albeit a very confusing one) of the existing employer-based system. I'm sure you'll agree that said employer-based system is as American as motherfcking apple pie, and its expansion could hardly be confused with turning us all into communists.

But I'm sure you already knew that, having diligently studied the topic, and weren't just spouting off kneejerk garbage. I'm sure that you're also aware that the only reason our country has an employer-based healthcare system is due to a bizarre twist of fate that occurred in the period of price controls immediately following World War II.

So why don't you stop whining about how med schools are making you fill out awful, horrible secondaries and go do something to help yourself? Jesus Christ, it's not that hard. Just go watch some people crump in a cancer ward and you'll be golden.

Oh yeah, and after perusing this thread for awhile, the only superlative I can attach to this BrettBachelor guy is "most likely to get the HepC injection in white collar prison." Top physician in his field? Please. Another toolshed with the personality of corrugated tin. No room in medicine, my boy. Got plenty already.

Since you have apparently spent zero time actually experiencing the delivery end of our healthcare system, let me sum it up for you:

Spend more, get less. It's the American way when it comes to healthcare.

The reluctance of jackoffs like yourself to throw some dimes at the uninsured has guaranteed that they will soak up an absurd proportion of resources by resorting to ER care. Furthermore, they will be most likely to be disabled or rendered unproductive due to preventable medical problems. Great system we got here, eh? Yeah, maybe you could see the whole fcking forest in front of you if you could take your eyes off the few parasites.
