a friend of mine sent in his apps to addsas in june but they said he had not sent all transcripts in because of his mission prep institute class from Southern Virginia. (which shows as zero credits. No university except BYU or BYU-I would acutually count these as a real credit class.) but they want a transcript from CES.

my friend and i are both at a state school that doesn't accept institute class credits. now i'm wondering if i might run into the same problem since my first semester was at BYU and they accept my institute credits as real credits but when i transferred to U of Nevada they of course didn't accept them as real classes.

has anyone else run into this problem?

have byu send your transcript into aadsas. you must send in ALL transcripts from EVERY school you have ever attended anyway. Unless you're hiding scores 🙂 .

I was actually wondering the same thing. I went to UVSC for a year after my mission and was able to earn my associates degree. I took a couple of classes from the orem institute of religion and everything transfered fine to BYU. So i sent transcripts to aadsas from BYU and UVSC but neither showed the religion classes. and because I transfered with a certain number of credits I only have to take four credit hours of religion from BYU, which i have now finished. I'm curently taking another class from the orem institute of religion and then i'm going to have them transfer that to BYU. but i didn't tell aadsas or any of my schools about this class, i just thought they wouldn't care. any suggestions?

Under normal circumstances I would think that they wouldn't care. You don't receive a letter grade when those institute class transfer to BYU, you simply receive credit towards the religion requirement, right?

gavin is right, i know usually no school but byu cares about institute classes and they show up as zero credits as an institute class (not transferred to byu).

that's whats crazy about it. my friend had one institute class that has zero credits but addsas has held up his application since JUNE now! he didn't have the best grades and was counting on applying early but now might be screwed..maybe be he can still get in somwhere.

hopefully anyone else, like me, that has taken institute classes (not at byu) might need to get a transcript from CES or the institute you went to just in case addsas asks for it. Which i think asking about zero credit religion classes and holding up your application for it is really stupid!!

Nice that we can start a thread about Institute and have people all over it.

I like it when brother Bott uses the word "pussyfoot" in his lectures.
