So i read some of the past threads on this but have some various questions...

Freshman year I got caught drunk in my dorm, forced to go to hospital since that's the policy, and then forced to do a alcohol awareness 1 on 1 with a school counselor or have the incident put on my record. So I go to the 1st session where he makes me take a survey. He reviews the survey and sees that I clearly don't have a drinking problem and I was just a freshmen being stupid. He then said some alcohol safety tips and I expressed that I learned from this situation. Then he just let me go and told me to be careful and that I don't need to go back.

To me this sounds like institutional action and I have no problem reporting it because I did indeed learn from the incident, but I'm kind of at loss on how to verify if this is indeed institutional action.

I plan to call the university (Rutgers, I have since transferred out of there) to get a confirmation, but I have no idea who to call and what exactly I should ask for (counseling office report?, disciplinary report?, transcript?, general record?).

Maybe we can just overlook this one? :naughty:

I had a similar situation. My university did not disclose it on transcripts or anything that would be sent to med schools. Why tell them if they will never find out?

Make sure that's the case with your situation 👍

I'd just call and ask if you have an IA on your record. If they say no, then do not include it on your application.

the school offered a choice it seems: go do x and y OR get a minor IA. you picked the former so the latter never happened. doesnt seem like an IA to me.

Doesn't sound like an IA to me.

I read somewhere that on the AMCAS application you still need to include the IA even if it's nowhere on your record? 🙄

Pretty sure if it isn't on your record, it isn't an IA.

Yeah that's correct, but I also remember reading that if any action at all was taken against you, even if it's not on your record, then it must be reported.

I remember during freshman year of college, a few people in one of my classes got busted for cheating on a mini-project. They all received a 0% for the assignment but nothing more. According to AMCAS, you still must be reported. I don't know if any one of them applied to medical school or not, but I don't think anyone would have honestly admitted that this occurred.

Wow, they must really trust their applicants to report things which are not on their records!

I guess it becomes arbitrary. I got thrown out of class once and received a zero on the quiz. Do I have to report that?

A friend once got stopped by campus police for moving a construction cone. Cop made him put it back and gave him a lecture after cuffing him with zip ties. Does my friend have to report that?

It was the titration lab practical. The girl next to me missed the titration lab (the week before) so I was telling her how to setup the buret. Can't talk during lab practical.

so medpr, did you receive an IA for that? or was it just a professor/student resolution?

and welcome back!

This is as fun as sitting at dinner while people share inside jokes.
