I'm an incoming M1. One of my personal side projects during my gap year was to write a literature review. After major revisions, it has been accepted with me as the sole author. Is it acceptable to publish with no institutional affiliation? I am conducting separate research projects with a group at my undergraduate institution, but my literature review was entirely independent.

It is possible. That’s how retired people publish. Hard to believe it would be taken seriously though.
