Insulted by a Mod

Hi folks,

I was given an infraction notice. Funny, I seem to get them for lifting a finger here. The two I've already received are probably no more serious than a lot of other stuff I see that goes on here.

I was given an infraction for my post here:

In my Inbox, I received the following: (italics, bold emphasis mine)

You have received an infraction at Student Doctor Network Forums.

Reason: Insulted Other Member(s)

Bashing DOs is not going to prove your point. You know, many doctors say ODs aren't "real" doctors either. Bashing someone else's education is not the way to get them to respect yours.



I see some irony here.

A DO comes onto the OD forums and bashes us for not being real doctors. I reply in retaliation that he's not a "real doctor" either.

I committed an infraction. OK. If you say so.

In the message, the mod says, "many doctors say ODs aren't "real" doctors either".

The mod committed the same infraction for which he/she gave me an infraction notice for.

If what I said constitutes infraction, shouldn't the mod get an infraction notice too?

I thought I was the only one who got borderline cases.

This one came as a surprise, given how little I contributed to the thread (it was the first of two short posts) and how non-inflammatory the tone was that I used. Heck, I told people to move on from the thread.

Just curious - are there multiple levels of infractions, some of which aren't visible to the public?

When I scroll through the thread, I only seem to see one red-infraction-rectangle, and its the one beside my post.

If others got an infraction notice, then I guess they aren't public.

The issue here is that the moderator appears to have said that OD's are not real doctors.

Infractions are nothing. Even if you get the boot (which I never have), you can make up a new screen name and you're back.

I got an infraction for basically proving OMDs wrong over on their forum. 😀

I was just pointing out a logical fallacy in the infraction I got.

I also challenged it cause the previous 2 I got were really borderline. For one of them, I've seen other posts commit the same technical infraction that I did, only to have their posts edited by the mod with no infraction given.

I thought enough with it. My contribution to that thread wasn't inflammatory at all. I didn't "raise my voice" and was just dismissive of the other person's qualifications as he was towards us. Given his "education", there was an invitation for me to post what I did.

Did I get the irony of my post? Yeah. That was the whole point of it.


As for inventing a new screen name - can't they block IP addresses?
