Insurance for IME side gig?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If a doc wanted to do IMEs separate from their employed gig, what sort of insurance would they need? This would be separate from normal employee provided malpractice insurance.

None. Because it's not a doctor-patient relationship. Maybe "errors and omissions" if you were really worried about it.

Agree. I’m pretty risk averse, so would probably get E&O, as it’s cheap. How that would come into play is hard to figure.

Having a decent security apparatus at your house is probably worthwhile in the case you give an unfavorable opinion on a nut job.
