Hello, I know it is mandatory that we have insurance when we attend school. I probably already know the answer to this question but in case I was wondering if the schools have an option to insure our parents?

I think they have the option for our spouse and kids right? But I don't think they have an option for our parents.

I called a few schools to learn more about their specific policies, they seem to vary a bit.
Generally it works the other way around, but I am not an expert. often there are state subsidized programs (here in Denver we have CoverColorado) which is required to take people regardless of preexisting condition and is about the same cost as what you will pay in med school. Check into programs like that or Cobra. What makes things challenging is when there is a gap in coverage. Maybe you could tell us more about your situation?

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have an insurance question myself that maybe someone can answer. Currently, I have no insurance, I have actually been off for awhile now, so I am wondering how hard it will be to get insurance for school? If anyone was in this situation and could let me know more I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

The school will have a package for you (nothing easier), and it will probably be pretty good.

In re OP's OP, I don't know if there is a provision to include your parents unless they are dependent, but it's certainly worth looking into!

Beck, Most schools will have a program. If you have preexisting conditions and don't have insurance now, you will often have to wait some predetermined amount of time to have your Rx covered and doc visits pertaining to that. If you were to get on a program now, you won't have to deal with the lag. It just depends if you have stuff you are being treated for at the moment.
