So, I am a reapplicant, and I've been to a couple of interviews. Almost all of my interview sessions involved a lot of the typical personal questions (why dentistry, strengths, weaknesses, etc.) to try and find out what type of person I am, what are my goals, and if I could survive dental school.

Yet I recently had an interview (closed file) where the interview was only about socioeconomic aspects/problems of dentistry, future changes to the private practice model of dentistry, and what changes (if any) should be made. I feel that I did pretty well, but I thought it was interesting that the entire interview was consumed by these types of questions. I have a fair amount of dental experience from shadowing/observation, but I felt that a lot of the details this person was looking for could only be answered thoroughly by an experienced dental professional. Also, later in the interview day, I found out that every person who had an interview with this committee member had the same experience.

I am just wondering if this is common elsewhere around the country, or if I had a rogue committee member because it was the most intense interview I had ever had. Anyone else have an experience like this? Any advice on how I should take this eperience?

Midwestern Il.... Really was no way to prepare... I felt I did descent for my 1st interview and for the way it was conducted... But I completly agree😳
