Sam owned $5568 on his 2 credit cards last year on which he paid a total of $1015.68 in interest. If the rate change by one card was 21% and the rate change by the other card was 15%. how much does he owe on each card?

I don't really understand the question:confused: but this is my attempt:

x= money owned on 1st card
y=money owned on 2nd card

x+y=$5568
.21x+.15y=$1015.68

then solve for x and y normally...is this correct??

Yup. Now solve for either x or y in the first equation and plug it into the second equation. Then solve the second equation, plug your answer into the first equation, and solve for the other variable.
