Not sure if there are many of you guys in this situation, but I'm interested in ER b/c thats what I think fits my personality best. I love problem solving, working with my hands, shift work, "being where the action is", most of these things describe life in the ER. Now the problem is my board scores are not competitive enough. If I decide on another specialty I feel like I would be compromising a lifelong dream. Not sure what to do at this point... try to do really well on step 2? except based on my previous standardized score results, I tend to score a little below avg. Work hard, try to impress...yeah, story of my life, there's alot of other applicants that work their ass off and will have better board scores than me. I'll stop since I'm venting now. Anyone else in this situation?

The thing about ED is that they put a lot of weight on that standardized letter of recommendation they have (Anyone who applied EM want to help me out here?) So, yes, definitely try to get good grades third year, take time to study for Step 2 and take it early, but DEFINITELY try to get an EM rotation in and work your tail off to impress.
