hey guys so I had a question,

If I E-Submit today I will have an incomplete file (since i'm taking the DAT next month) however, does that guarantee me a spot in the review process? Meaning, will my application be looked at BEFORE someone that e-submits next month (even if they have their application complete)

Basically, what im asking is, does it work like a queue system where I would get a "place in line" or would the outcome be the same if I E-submit AFTER my DAT?

Just wanted your thoughts on the idea.

Your application will be considered complete and review once they have your DAT score. I assume once you take your DAT score, that will take some time to get to schools as well.

AADSAS will not going to mail out your application until they recieve your DAT score.

Which means that your application will not going to be reviewed by the school until you take your exam.

After taking your exam, it takes about 2 weeks to post upon your application.

So if you were to take DAT on July 1st, your score will be posted by July 15, and at that time AADSAS will send out your application to each school.

So let say you e-submitted your application today and someone else e-submitted his/her application July 1. Then he/she will get priority than yours

generally speaking...no, it doesn't work like a queue where you can have your e-submit date "hold your place in line." like May said, the date that everything is in and complete is the date that counts because that's when they'll look at your app.

the caveat to this is that if you have a solid application (GPA, ECs, shadowing, letters), applied early, and have still yet to take the DAT, some schools may (unless it's peak season) take a look at your app and invite you for an interview early, essentially on the good faith that you'll deliver on the DAT. I e-submitted in aug. after taking my DAT so I don't speak from experience, but it happened to a couple friends. (what YoonS says about AADSAS mailing is true, but schools can electronically download your submitted application whenever they choose to do an update from the AADSAS server, which is usually weekly)

tl;dr: the date that everything is in is the main one, but it doesn't hurt to e-submit as soon as you can.

right, I believe I will e-submit early anyway, because this way my app is processed (GPA is calculated and verified) and once the DAT scores are in it will get mailed out. But doesnt it get mailed out to the schools regardless of the when the DAT is taken and then a follow up is mailed? or better yet isnt this year the digital year when schools will ONLY review your application online.

bump for more responses.

Even though I haven't taken the DAT, they still gave me a mailing date which is way before the day I plan to take the DAT. They're gonna mail it out, but will schools review it or will it just be put aside until the scores come in

Why would schools review an incomplete file. Schools review complete files. That means: complete LOR, DAT, GPA. If you are missing one of those, they most likely (99%) put your application into a different pile, and lose your "early" advantage. Once they recieve one of the missing items that complete your application, they will then review it. That means, even if an incomplete file is submitted in JULY, and you complete it in AUGUST, you will most likely be reviewed with the August/september applicants.

It makes no sense that they would hold your's priority/review it when its missing a DAT score.

My Application has a mailing date of 6/27. I got an email yesterday from Stony Brook stating they have received my application.

My application was missing 1 LOR, which was turned in yesterday evening and my DAT score (taking July 21).

Not sure what it all means as far as being reviewed, but AADSAS mailed out my incomplete application.

I am also a Texas resident and TMDSAS has transmitted my application to the dental schools, verified by their website, but I have not received any emails from the individual schools.
