I'm a Canadian student which means we don't have a pre-dental committee (at least at my school) which means I must get LORs from at least 2 science profs.

Background: I'm doing genetics research this summer for a prof at the university of toronto (not my school). I was wondering if I can use an LOR from him, however a) he's not a prof from my school & b) its not a LOR from a prof in a sense that he taught me, its an LOR because I do research for him...in other words...

Question 1: Can I use an LORs from profs that are from a different school
Question 2: SHOULD I use an LOR from a prof when the prof isn't writing about my performance as a student but as a person that worked in his lab

Schools will specify if they want a prof who taught you. It's often to get an idea of your abilities in class.
